Selena Marie Wilson
Selena Marie Wilson of Temple, TX, passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 55. A memorial service will be held at Harper Talasek Funeral Home of Temple on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.
Selena was born on April 24, 1970, in Lansing, Michigan, to Carolyn Ann Powell (Churchwell). She spent the majority of her childhood and early adult years in central Texas but later moved to Brenham, where she raised her children and met her life partner, Franco Ricardo Rivera. While in Brenham, Selena also attended Blinn College and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
Selena’s college education was cut short by chronic migraines, which she would battle for the rest of her life. However, that challenge sparked one of her greatest passions: raising awareness and advocating for others with chronic illness, migraines, and depression. Besides her advocacy work, Selena loved to create and was a skilled artist in multiple areas. Spending time with family, reading, manicures, and cuddling her cats all brought Selena joy.
Selena is reunited in heaven with her stepfather, Chuck Churchwell, and her niece, Sydney Smith. She is survived by her life partner, Franco Rivera; her mother, Carolyn Churchwell; her daughter Andria (Joshua) Ward; her son, Derek Klehm; her sister, Daphne (Nathan) Tatum; her sister Diana (Andrew) Bales; her grandsons, Keaton Wilson and Cash Ward; her stepsister Michelle (Brad) Robinson; her stepsister Leighann Brown; her stepsister Paulla (Chris Gundrum) Smith; and her stepbrother Mark (Shannon) Churchwell.
In lieu of flowers, Selena’s family requests donations in her name to an organization of your choice that’s dedicated to chronic illness advocacy and support, or To Write Love on Her Arms, an organization dedicated to providing mental health services for those in need.
