Tips for successful active weight management: avoid alcohol and refined sugar but make changes that are sustainable. Diets don't work due to the sense of deprivation a person feels. To think you will take a "break" from a diet is already a self defeating idea. Make sustainable changes to how you eat and how you view food and you will manage your weight successfully. If you want to have a sweet treat, exercise for 30-45 minutes BEFORE you plan to consume it. Try to burn as many calories as you well consume I the treat.... of do not eat it.

Weight management I tricky as there are as many solutions as there are people. What works for one person does not necessarily work for another as we are all slightly different so the solution is slightly different. A calorie is a calorie regardless of where it comes from (carbs, fat, protein). However, carbs have a tendency to stimulate a persons appetite which is self defeating. There are also different types of carbs. For example plain refined sugar is a carb but so are many fruits and vegetables. Most people would notice quite a difference between the two. A teaspoon of refiled sugar has a caloric content of 16-20 calories depending on how generous you measure a teaspoon. Three stalks of celery have 16 calories as well. Most people stop eating celery after the first one or two stalks. Refined sugar presents a different situation.
