Our nurses enjoyed a fun Hot Cocoa Bar this week — complete with cocoa themed costumes from our nurse leaders! 🍫😄

The event was a lighthearted way to share our progress toward Pathway to Excellence®, a national recognition for hospitals that support and empower nurses. Team members also picked up their new Pathway t shirts and connected with leaders about what this journey means for our nursing culture.

Thanks to all our amazing nurses for making it such a warm and uplifting celebration!

Staff celebrated the new location of the Sanford Health International Falls Eye Center & Optical with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 25.

The new location is at 1580 Highway 71, next to Hardees, in International Falls. Optometrist Jayci McCrory, OD, will continue to offer a variety of eye care services for patients of all ages including routine eye exams and treatment and management of chronic conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, dry eye and more. Ophthalmologist Tyler Junttila, MD, will also continue his cataract and retina injection outreach two days per month at the new location.

Kelly Pfeifer is a top-level college basketball official who referees nationally televised games throughout the United States. Josefine Combs, Psy.D., is a Sanford Health neuropsychologist who helps athletes with the mental side of competing. Pfeifer wanted to become a better referee and sought out Combs to help him do that.

After Rick Anderson received a TAVR procedure, a surgery meant to replace a valve in his heart, his Sanford Health care team instructed him to follow a cardiac rehab program. He highly attributes that to his successful recovery.

Not everyone attends all of their rehab sessions, but doing so "gives them the encouragement that they're able to exercise on their own when they're done here," says Allison Mildenberger, RN.
