If you desire to be close to your baby at night...do so. There are many ways to safely co-sleep.

We would have to tell them they are capable of ANYTHING. ❤️

What if we told women the truth about birth?

We’d have to tell them that contractions will probably be more than “surges” or “sensations.”

That they’ll probably rock your world and leave you begging for salvation as you clutch the edge of the tub or the hospital linens.

That your gentle breathing exercises and your Spotify soundtrack will be left in the dust as you sweat and pant and sway and swear your way through it

That you’ll trip harder than any mushroom you ever did in college and vomit with the same ferocity and travel to places deep within yourself that you didn’t know existed.

That you’ll float above your body and simultaneously be trapped in it with an intensity you’ve never tasted.

And in that intensity,
in the sweating and the swearing
and the swaying and the vomiting
and the endless hours of contractions crashing down upon you ...

You’ll find your strength.
You’ll find a resilience you’ve never known.
You’ll find the power you need for the journey of Motherhood ahead.

In the messy humanity of it all,
you’ll find that you are holy.
A portal to the divine.
Capable of indescribable miracles.
A vessel of sacred life.

What if we told women the truth about birth?
We’d have to tell them they are capable of anything.

Worthy of being treated like goddesses.
Made to walk through the flames,
surf the tidal waves,
dive into the underworld
And come out alive.

Not unscathed.
Not unchanged.
But whole
and healed
and ready to take on the world.

If we told women the truth about birth,
we’d have to admit that we’ve lied about everything else,
and that they are more powerful,
more fierce,
more capable,
more beautiful,
than we’ve ever let on.

If we told the truth about birth?
We’d shatter the world.

'Do no harm' is an ethical principle in healthcare that is used to describe the obligation of practitioners to avoid causing harm to patients during care, regardless of their intention.

However, this is often not the case. Your provider may be so focused on the medical side of things they don't take into consideration how their words and actions can limit your choices, and/or cause emotional trauma.

So....WHY hire me as Birth Doula?

I am an EDUCATOR.

I can inform you of all your choices in pregnancy and birth so that YOU make the choices that are right for you and your baby. I can be by your side to advocate for you and remind providers of their duty to 'Do No Harm' emotionally as well and physically.

I am trained in Non- Maleficence in a way your provider may not be.

" This changes everything."

You can hear ALL of the emotions in her voice when she discovers she is pregnant with twins.

Having a baby changes everything, so two? You BET.

BTW.....Doulas LOVE to help support twins. 😏

Woman Gives Birth To Baby In Pacific Ocean Without Medical Help

A video clip of a woman from Nicaragua giving birth on the shoreline of Playa Majagual, Nicaragua went viral.

Josy Peukert and her partner Benni Cornelius drove to the beach in Playa Majagual, Nicaragua to deliver their son, Bodhi. Bodhi was born healthy at 3.5kg.

Peukert delivered her baby without medical help. The couple only had a birthing tool kit, including towels, a bowl with a sieve to catch the placenta, gauze, and paper towels.

Peukert explained the reason to give birth in the ocean:

I got this idea in my head I wanted to give birth in the ocean and because the conditions were right on the day that's what I did.

According to Daily Mail, Peukert talked about the experience:

After Bodhi was born and wrapped up in towels I went back into the ocean to freshen up. Then I got dressed and we packed everything up and drove home where the three of us got straight into bed.

After sharing her experience online, Peukert received divided comments about her choice to give birth in the sea.

However, Peukert, who is now a mother of four, stood by her decision:

Bodhi was born in the midday sun when it was about 35 degrees, we weren't worried at all that he'd be cold and I had no concerns about waterborne infections. He is perfectly healthy. I did all the research I needed to to make sure it was safe.

My first birth was traumatic in a clinic and my second birth was a home birth but by the third even a midwife in my home was too much. This time I had no doctors appointments or scans or outside influence.

We didn’t have a due date or deadline for the baby to arrive we just trusted that our baby would make its way. I had no fears or worries to welcome a new little soul into our lives, just me, my partner and the waves. It was beautiful.
