Welcome Kari Szukalski MPT, cert. MDT!
Kari joins Rode Physical Therapy with over 20 years of experience in the one-on-one outpatient orthopedic setting treating patients with a mix of hands-on manual therapy, patient education and specific exercises tailored to the needs of each patient.
She enjoys treating patients with a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including pre and post surgical patients, automobile and sports related injuries, and every day “life events”. She holds a certification in the McKenzie method, a system for diagnosing and treating spine and extremity pain.
Kari decided to become a physical therapist after years of competitive sports that introduced her to different therapists through the years. She loves the problem solving approach to Physical Therapy tailored to each patient’s needs.
Kari completed her undergraduate degree in Biology, Chemistry and Exercise Physiology and Sports Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After years of sports travel, she switched gears and joined the rowing team at UNC where she still keeps in contact with many of her former teammates. She went on to graduate with honors from Western Carolina university in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains.
Outside of work Kari coaches mountain biking skills to women and children, volunteers for the Pine Mountain Sports Women’s mountain bike program, snowboards, gardens and chases her backyard chickens. She enjoys spending time on the mountain and in the woods with her family.
