Make Better Choices 2

Make Better Choices 2 MBC2 employs technology to help you eat better, sleep better, and get more exercise. And participants were able to keep up the positive changes.

The goal of the study is to test whether MBC2 can promote healthy changes and prevent unnecessary sickness and death in people in Eastern Kentucky. An earlier version of this study helped people make and maintain health behavior changes. The current study is being led by Nancy E. Schoenberg, Ph.D. Dr Schoenberg is a professor of behavioral science in UK’s College of Medicine. Deanna Lee Sherman, w

ho lives in Harlan County, is the study’s project manager. Many members of local communities have contributed to the project’s design. For the past 16 years, Dr. Schoenberg has worked with talented and committed local residents to create health programming that people feel is important. Her projects include Faith Moves Mountains. MBC2 brings one of the most innovative new programs to improve health to Eastern Kentucky. Study participants will:
• Use a new health app and a Fitbit to track eating, sleeping, exercise
• Work with a trained, local health coach
• Participate in 2 in-person health checks
• Receive $ incentives for meeting goals

To qualify for this study, you should:
• Be willing to track your health behaviors with a Smartphone App and a Fitbit
• Be 18 years or older

Big News from your favorite farmers, makers, and bakers

Our Soft Opening of the Montgomery County Farmers Market will be May 23rd and every Saturday 7am-12pm until our Grand Opening on June 20th

After June 20th the market will be open regularly every Wednesday and Saturday 7am-12pm

What’s a Soft Opening?!!

Our Soft Opening is any of our vendors who are ready to come to Market! That means produce won’t be there in full force until our Grand Opening on June 20th

We hope to see you May 23rd!

If you are interested in becoming a vendor for the 2026 season applications are ready for pick up from the Montgomery County Extension Office until June 1st. After that there is a late fee for your application

We want to thank Shannon Denniston for his sponsorship of our Double Dollars Program that helps our Senior & WIC customers

Also we would like to thank Central Kentucky Ag Credit for their donation of reusable bags for our loyal customers

If you are interested in sponsoring us there is still time

Sponsorships help us cover things like:

Paying our Market Manager who keeps everything running smoothly each week and is the main source of information and guidance for our Seniors and WIC participants

Providing bags for produce so customers can easily shop with our vendors

Hosting Customer Appreciation Day

We are responsible for paying 25% of the cost of the Double Dollars program

Maintaining access to the downtown public restrooms that keep the market comfortable for everyone

Our market exists because of the support of our community and the people who believe in shopping local and supporting small farms, bakers, and makers and we appreciate each one of you greatly

If your business or organization would be interested in becoming a sponsor of the Montgomery County Farmers Market, we would love to connect with you. Your support helps keep this market going for our farmers, vendors, and the entire community

Please send us a message or reach out to learn more about sponsorship opportunities

There’s just something about a Letcher County sunrise… soft colors stretching across the ridges, the quiet before the day begins, and a reminder of how blessed we are to call this place home.

✨ Take a moment today to slow down, breathe it in, and appreciate the beauty right outside your door.
