Last week at BRS there were 102 calls

🚑 92 were 9-1-1 calls (90%) with 83 in Bennington/N. Bennington, 6 in Shaftsbury, and 3 mutual aid into NY.

🚑 71% of 9-1-1 calls resulted in transport, 17% treated in place, and 12% were cancellations or standby calls.

🚑 Falls continue to be a leading cause of 9-1-1 calls at 23% last week

🚑 10% of calls were transfers with most to or from local care facilities

The average response time for first responders after calling 911 is 8–12 minutes — making timely CPR and defibrillation critical.

🍫 Not only a great place for sweets but now shockingly safe too! Last week we delivered an AED to a Bennington Main St fixture, The Village Chocolate Shoppe.

We provided a quick training on performing hands-only CPR and using the AED. Thanks for investing in life-saving capabilities for your employees and customers!

Remember that we count on your help in life-threatening emergencies like cardiac arrest. If you witness someone collapse or find them unconscious:
1️⃣ Tap and shout to see if they respond
2️⃣ Call 911 and put it on speakerphone
3️⃣ If an AED is nearby, send someone to get it
4️⃣ If there is no breathing or only abnormal gasps, start CPR - push hard & fast in thcenter of the chest
🧠 Brain death can start within minutes. CPR helps keep blood (and oxygen) flowing until help arrives.

📈 Another above average call week for our crew!

106 emergency calls resulted in
🚑 68 transported to a hospital
🚑 31 treated in place (aka no transport)
🚑 6 cancellations or standbys for fire, police, or events

Mondays are often our busiest day and last week was no exception with 21 calls.
