A week of clarity and transformation spent halfway around the world.
An intensive on the teachings of Hatha Yoga of Krishnamacharya (known as the father of modern yoga), then passed down to his son Desikachar. These Hatha yoga teachings are now shared through their direct student, and incredible teacher of yoga, Mark Whitwell.
To be able to learn in a magical place in the Coromandel region of New Zealand called , well, it’s unbelievable really, and I feel so grateful! I can’t wait to bring this back home with me to my community.
I’ve used the book, Heart of Yoga, by Desikachar, in my 200-hr teacher training for the last nine years. Whenever someone asks me to recommend them a book about yoga about yoga, that’s the book I give them. To have had an in-person opportunity to take the practice deeper is something I will cherish.
This Hatha Yoga, is simple, powerful, and very effective. This is not a “brand” of yoga. This is the embodiment of yoga as union. Sun & Moon, the union of opposites experienced in the breath.
This practice seamlessly blends, asana, pranayama, bandhas, and mantra, and as Mark says- brings you to the direct experience of the actual participation with life. It brings you to the literal and factual understanding that you are the power of the cosmos- not as spiritual poetry, but as scientific fact.
There is no separation, there is no seeking, you are already it, you are in the direct experience of God.
I am truly blessed.
*special thank you to for arranging to bring Mark to Michigan 14(?) years ago where a seed was planted in my heart of yoga.
