September represents ***dePreventionMonth. Although we understand the importance of su***de prevention throughout the entire head, September acts as a national spotlight for awareness.💜

Organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness emphasize the impact conversation has on those struggling with suicidal ideation. Just a quick conversation with loved ones, or even oneself, can create the space to discuss thoughts, feelings, and experiences which might otherwise be difficult to communicate. This September, ask yourself and those around you, “Are you okay?” and prioritize the destigmatization of su***de prevention tactics.

“According to the American Institute of Stress, 33% of people feel extreme stress, and 77% of people feel stress that has some impact on their physical health.” (McLean Hospital).

Go touch grass! No, really, go touch grass.🌱

This Mental Health Monday we are focusing on the mindfulness technique known as grounding or earthing. Understood to decrease levels of anxiety or stress, grounding is the practice of connecting one's bare skin with the earth. This is typically done by walking barefoot in the grass or dirt!

Though not an aid to every ailment, grounding can be beneficial to calming one's mind in moments of stress.💜
