Mental Health Monday: Eco-therapy for beginners🌷

Also known as nature therapy, eco-therapy is a form of treatment which prioritizes time in the outdoors for mental health benefits! Recreational activities, exercise, and mindfulness practices can all fall under the umbrella of eco-therapy.

Eco-therapy benefits one’s physical and mental health by reducing cortisol levels, decreasing blood pressure, and elevating one’s mood🌱

Here are four ideas for eco-therapy: forest bathing, outdoor mediation, animal-assisted therapy, and park “prescriptions.” Let us know which is your favorite!🌲🐕‍🦺🧘

This we recognize survivors, their loved ones, advocates, and change makers.🩵🎗️

Awareness isn’t only about acknowledgement, it’s also about implementing strategies for healing and prevention🫂

The healing process can look different for each survivor. Trauma-informed therapies such as CPT, CBT, and EMDR are proven to be highly effective in treating both short and long-term effects of sexual assault.

April may be Sexual Assault Awareness Month, but we stand with survivors and advocates every month💜

Mental Health Monday: Let’s SPRING into good habits!🌷

To celebrate the start of season, here are some positive habits for your mental health you can implement this spring (or anytime, really).

Incorporating these simple habits into your routine, especially in the morning, can provide a great boost for your day. Whether you focus on yoga or earthing, taking just a few minutes to focus on yourself and your body can decrease stress and provide a dose of positive energy.

Which habits will you incorporate?💜

Mental Health Monday: Neurodiversity and the therapeutic approach🌈♾️

The term “neurodiversity” emerged in the 1990s with the goal of creating an inclusive and authentic space for the variety of neurological experiences among humanity. Today, in the counseling setting, neurodiversity-affirming therapy seeks similar goals: to accommodate, embrace, and promote self-confidence.

Therapy should be a safe space for neurodiverse individuals to come into their identity and experience meaningful healing on their own terms💜
