Hope Movement Coalition’s 5th annual Bridge the Gap Overdose and Fentanyl Poisoning Event at North Little Rock Riverfront Park was held Sat August 23, 2025. This powerful event is dedicated to raising awareness about overdose and fentanyl poisoning, honoring the lives we have lost, and sharing resources available to help. We’re grateful for the rain this week that cooled down the summer heat and brightened up the grass to a lovely green! It livened up our courtyard, a serene space where patients and staff can enjoy the outdoors while still within the privacy and safety of the hospital. Community Relations representatives, Brittney and Kim called on over 700 Conway educators to “Lettuce Taco ‘bout Mental Health” last week at the annual teacher fair organized by the Conway Regional Chamber of Commerce. Thanks to all who stopped to learn more about our services and for the role you play in helping youth and families address important emotional and behavioral needs. It was great to catch up with Sheila Franklin, former juvenile officer now serving on the school board.

What does service excellence look like? Each participant sketched out their ideas on paper drawing a literal picture of how they see themselves contributing to a culture of both Service Excellence and Trauma Informed Care. Ever wonder about the staff working with people behind the scenes in mental health? We recognize they typically don’t want attention for the roles they play, yet they’re so very important to the success of a treatment plan. Meet Bailie, our Lead Therapist for Inpatient Social Services at Rivendell of Arkansas! Here’s a little inside scoop on this super star!

Years as a therapist: 8 years
Years with Rivendell: 6 years in December.
Specialty: My specialty is working with kids! This job involves working with a lot of family conflict, so I try to be non-judgmental and unbiased to help find some sort of middle ground before discharge.
Alma Mater: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology- UALR, Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling and Education Specialist Degree in School Counseling- Harding University
How you care for the caregiver you are: I take care of myself by spending lots of time with my husband, daughter, and my dogs. I love to take my daughter to her activities and I get really involved in whatever she loves at the moment. I also love to binge watch tv shows, cook and bake, and shop.
Inspiring quote: "You can be the juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be someone that hates peaches." I take this to mean you should always be yourself and don't let others dictate who you should be!

Rivendell was pleased to sponsor the Arkansas Juvenile Officer Association 2025 Summer Conference this week, networking with staff from counties across the state all gathered in Hot Springs. The educational event serves as an opportunity to both learn and play. We had a blast hosting their annual Scavenger Hunt which always leads to some serious competition! The teams of scrappy officers were fun to watch searching for a long list of miscellaneous items including selfies with staff, Rivendell merch, hotel toiletries, Argyle socks, candy, foreign currency, and a concert tee (the winning team found a shirt- on a hotel guest!) Visiting all the booths and getting to know other providers and service organizations for youth was also a treat! Thanks for a great conference, AJOA, and for all you do to make a difference for teens. (Swipe for pics of the hunt in action and the winning team!)

Giving props to mobile assessor, John Norris, again this week who invited juvenile officers Scott Walters & Casandra Oden from Hot Spring County Juvenile Court to see the facility and meet our staff. It always helps to put faces (and places) with names so referral sources can recommend treatment to a program they trust. We enjoy welcoming guests to tour the premises and have lots of renovations to showcase as well as professionals to meet along the way! We are an 80-bed acute psychiatric hospital located on a 17-acre wooded glen in Benton, Arkansas. Our freestanding treatment center offers a private, peaceful setting for those seeking healing and hope for behavioral health issues. Our facility offers inpatient programs for patients ages four and above as well as intensive outpatient treatment for adults. Rivendell utilizes a medical model for patient treatment practicing a multidisciplinary approach in terms of screening, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning. Professionals providing care as part of the multidisciplinary team include psychiatrists, nurses, dieticians, social workers, counselors, special education teachers, and more.
