During our Spring Banquet & Recognition Ceremony, Legacy Keepers Nurse Honor Guard will proudly announce the recipient of our 2026 Spirit of Legacy Award.

This meaningful honor recognizes a member whose dedication, service, and commitment to the Legacy Keepers mission shines brightly within our organization and the nursing profession.

This year, several incredible members have been nominated by their peers, which is a powerful testament to the respect and admiration they have earned from those who serve beside them.

Each nominee represents the heart of Legacy Keepers. Their compassion, leadership, and devotion to honoring nurses past, present, and future make them all deeply deserving.
And while only one name will be announced that evening… every nominee already reflects the true Spirit of Legacy.

We love being invited to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The staff is so nice to work with and so supportive. We always have someone talking about this Civil War Era Hearse from 1850..

Memorial Gardens Funeral Home was founded in 2002 by Mike Angelo and Michael Walton. After the passing of Mike Angelo on July 19, 2010. Michael Walton promised he would continue on taking care of grieving families, just as the two of them always had done. Legacy Keepers Nurse Honor Guard of Arkansas is greatful for our connection with Michael, Cole and the wonderful staff at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Heather Lane, RN, BSN, who recently joined our organization in January 2026, deserves special recognition for her Inaugural Tribute and Casket Guard Duty.

Heather is making significant strides in her career, currently pursuing her PMHNP. This tribute is particularly meaningful as Heather honors the legacy of two remarkable nurses: Lena Pulliam, LPN, and her own mother, Tina Weems. Tina & Heather had discussed the Nurse Honor Guard before she passed away in November.

Heather's respect for the nursing profession and the her membership in the nurse honor guard was reflected in her pressed uniform, neatly pinned hair, and polished shoes. Both nurses, Lena and Tina would be incredibly proud of Heather's dedication and achievement today.

Congratulations Heather. Welcome to Legacy..

Members of Legacy Keepers Nurse Honor Guard of Arkansas had the privilege of celebrating the life of a beautiful Nurse today..
At 90 years young Lena Smith Pulliam, LPN has spent decades caring for patients, family and her community. She had a true servant’s heart.

It was an honor for Legacy Keepers Nurse Honor Guard to have been invited to recognize the years of dedication, compassion, and healing that Lena gave to those in her care. She leaves behind a legacy of class, Integrity, professionalism, and work ethic that few could ever match.

Today members of our organization had the honor and privilege of paying tribute to a remarkable nurse. Tracy Renee Neal, LPN..
A 2000 Graduate from Ouachita Baptist University as a Licensed Practical Nurse and dedicated over two decades to living her calling! Medical concerned forced her into retirement in 2020, but her compassionate heart did not end there. She lived life to the fullest always remembering "Life is fragile and time here is precious. "

On behalf of nurses that understand this calling, we thank you for sharing Tracy with the world.

We would like to personally thank Tracy’s family for entrusting Legacy Keepers Nurse Honor Guard of Arkansas with the privilege and honor of keeping her candle lit, symbolic of the light she was to our community, during Thursday nights visitation service. And for allowing us the privilege of honoring her during her Memorial services today.

We’d also like to thank Dial & Dudley Funeral Home for all they do to help families learn about our services.

Please Join in keeping Tracy’s family, friends, and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

February is Black History Month. And tonight
we took a moment to honor the courageous nurses of color, whose dedication and perseverance helped shape the profession we serve.

Sojourner Truth

These are only a small portion of the women who have served with such a passion that their stories are still being told.
After each reading, our members united and spoke these simple but powerful words:
“Their legacy continues.”
And it does — through the compassion, professionalism, and service of nurses everywhere.
Legacy Keepers is proud to remember the past while continuing the sacred work of honoring the nursing profession.
