However we get paid, doulas are always going to show up for our clients and support them with accurate information, curiosity and compassion for their unique circumstances and deep presence as we walk them through this transition. We've known for a long time that this work is valuable -- it's nice to see more people are getting familiar it.

While more Medicaid patients and even some on private plans have gained doula coverage in recent years, United is the first major insurer to begin rolling out the benefit nationwide.

In just a few years the reactions have shifted from “what the heck is a doula?” to “Doulas! I’ve heard of them!” ☺️ Glad to see our work becoming more mainstream and absolutely dedicated to making this work sustainable and accessible. We will always show up for families with compassion, dedication and knowledgable support — been doing it since before anyone knew who we were. 😂

Doulas provide physical and emotional support before, during and after birth. Such care used to be seen as a luxury and was available only to those who could afford it.

Our first group of interns have graduated! We loved spending a few months mentoring these newly trained doulas -- and our clients benefited immensely from their capable, compassionate support. Their businesses are linked in the comments - so check them out.

Successful candidates show professionalism, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn. Interns must have completed a doula training -- they can be working toward certification or already be certified.

Proud to partner with Ignite Professional Studies and UAMS Institute for Community Health Innovation to present:

🌱 Together We Grow -- A monthly support group for pregnant teens in Northwest Arkansas.

Our mission is to provide compassionate, non-judgmental support and build a peer-to-peer community aimed at improving birth and parenting outcomes for teen moms in NWA. Our student doulas-in-training provide evidence-based education, emotional and physical assistance, and practical community-based resources.

Young moms-to-be (ages 14-19), come join us for friendship, education and fun!

Learn about pregnancy, birth and parenting in a relaxed setting created just for YOU. Meet other teens on their journey to parenthood and the doulas-in-training who are excited to support you. We'll have 🥨snacks, 👑theme days and 🎁prizes for participation.

Location: UAMS Institute for Community Health Innovation
