Bentonville Acupuncture & Wellness Center Dr. Marsha Kaye, DAOM, LAc Welcome to the Bentonville Acupuncture & Wellness Center. Acupuncture treats people as an integrated whole in body, mind, and spirit.

I opened Bentonville Acupuncture & Wellness Center to bring a world class healing environment that supports the recovery and maintenance of health & wellness to the people of NW Arkansas. Our emphasis is on promoting health, prevention and treatment of disease and pain, be it physical or emotional. Treatments are designed to improve the flow and balance of energy throughout the body by treating the root cause of illness and disease as well as the symptoms. We offer a clean, stress free environment that includes a Chinese herb dispensary and a wide selection of pharmaceutical-grade supplements. Because no two cases are alike, I place the utmost importance on tailoring each treatment to the individual. I treat a variety of conditions, from pain to internal disorders – whether they arise from physical illness, injury or mental and emotional stress. I have a special interest in treating chronic conditions, stress relief, emotional issues, and women's health issues. Acupuncture can help you to regain a strong body, calm mind and joyful spirit. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is the season of the Wood element and the Liver, making it the ideal time for an emotional detox to release anger, frustration, and resentment.

By supporting the Liver’s detoxification process through fresh green foods, sour flavors, gentle movement (yoga, Tai Chi), and acupuncture, you can promote the smooth flow of Qi and foster mental clarity.

Strategies to Help Promote Emotional Balance (TCM Perspective):

🥬Dietary Adjustments: Incorporate leafy greens (kale, spinach), sprouts, and sour foods like lemon and apple cider vinegar to support Liver function.

💢Emotional Release: Focus on letting go of pent-up anger and resentment to align with the renewal energy of spring.

🧘Movement: Engage in gentle movement like yoga or Qi Gong to help "stretch" the liver meridian, which aids in moving stagnant energy.

🪡Acupuncture: Regular treatments help balance, nourish the liver, and reduce stress.

☀️Lifestyle: Rise earlier with the sun and clear clutter to create space for new beginnings.

Spring is here! Make the most of it.
We're here for you if you need a bit of extra support. 🥰

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is the season of the Wood element, representing birth, rapid growth, and upward expansion. Associated with the Liver and Gallbladder organs, this phase embodies vitality, flexibility, and the necessary energy for new beginnings. It is a time for rejuvenation, movement, and balancing emotions.

Tips for Aligning with the Wood Element:

Move Your Body: Engage in gentle exercises like yoga, qi gong, or brisk walking to stimulate the flow of Qi and release pent-up energy.

Embrace Detoxification: Support the liver by eating green, leafy vegetables and seasonal greens.

Manage Emotions: Practice stress-reducing activities such as meditation or journaling to manage anger or frustration.

Embrace Flexibility: Focus on adapting to change, mirroring the flexibility of trees.

Come see us! Regular acupuncture appointments can help your body maintain balance through seasonal changes and help keep you feeling rested and regulated year-round!

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), March is associated with Spring, the Wood element, and the liver, making it the peak season for Wind (Feng) as a pathogenic factor.
Wind can cause rapid, upward-moving, and changing symptoms like colds, allergies, headaches, and dizziness.

This month, remember to:

🧣Protect the Neck: Keep the neck and back of the head covered, as these are vulnerable spots for wind invasion.

🫶Adaptation: As Spring is a time of rising energy, TCM encourages transitioning with the season, avoiding sudden exposures to strong, cold winds.

🍲Liver Care: Since wind is linked to the liver (Wood element), reducing stress and eating balanced, seasonal foods helps maintain proper flow.

If you need extra support through this transitional season, please reach out! We can help you maintain balance so you can Feel Better, Function Better, and Live Better this Spring!

🍀March is National Nutrition Month!

It is a time for detoxifying, moving stagnant winter energy, and eating light, fresh, green foods. Key dietary principles include incorporating green vegetables, sour flavors, and pungent, sprouting foods to support liver function and Qi flow.

Spring Dietary Principles (TCM):

🥬Embrace Green Foods: Incorporate leafy greens like spinach, kale, Swiss chard, and broccoli to nourish the liver.

🍋Add Sour Flavors: Use lemon, limes, vinegar, or fermented foods to stimulate the liver and aid digestion.

🧅Pungent and Sprouting Foods: Enjoy sprouts, scallions, ginger, and garlic to support the upward, moving energy of spring.

🍲Lighten Up: Shift from heavy, cooked winter meals to lighter, quick-cooked food (steamed or lightly sautéed).

🚫Reduce Excess: Limit heavy, greasy, and fried foods that burden the liver and gallbladder.

Spending time in nature reduces anxiety, lowers cortisol (stress hormone), and improves mood by allowing the brain to shift into a more relaxed state. Research shows that just 10–50 minutes in green or blue spaces (parks, forests, water) can significantly boost mental health, with a target of 120 minutes per week for optimal well-being.

Ways to Connect with Nature to Reduce Anxiety:

🌳Practice "Nature Fixes": Simply sitting or walking in natural spaces for 20 minutes can lower heart rate and blood pressure.

🌲Try Forest Bathing (Shinrin-yoku): Engage all senses—listen to birdsong, look at trees, smell the air, and feel the breeze.

🚶Active Engagement: Incorporate exercise like hiking, biking, or gardening in green spaces, which boosts endorphins while reducing stress.

☁️Mindful Observation: Focus on the, such as watching clouds or observing insects, to break free from overstimulation and reduce rumination.

🪴Bring Nature Indoors: If you cannot get out, grow plants, tend to a garden, or watch wildlife to feel connected to the environment.

🧘Maximize "Nature Connectedness": It is not just being outside, but noticing and feeling a part of nature that boosts mental health benefits.

🥰For the best results, try to spend 15 minutes each day outside or plan a half-day in nature each month.
