Mother Well Doula Service is owned by Victoria Wilson CD(DONA), a Berea College graduate who has been in birth doula practice since 2015. Victoria has supported over 50 birth doula clients, as well as many others through classes and support. Past clients speak to Victoria's compassion, expertise, and intuition as a birth doula. Her birth work is driven by the belief that fostering relationships is the way to positively impact individual births and transform our broken maternity care system. The Mother Well provides practical support, enduring encouragement, and tangible solutions to common parenting problems for the families of Central Kentucky. Victoria has spoken on college campuses, in professional groups, and in private settings on the topic of birth and doula work. By booking with one of our highly skilled doulas, you can be assured your growing family is in compassionate and caring hands.

You had a baby. And your body changed.
It doesn’t feel ok right now.
But it will be ok. 🫶🏼

You’re going to become aquainted with your new self.
You are getting to know this version of you that brought LIFE into this world.

You’re going to learn how to take care of this amazing body in new ways.

And, perhaps, for the first time ever you will learn to be kind to your body. Because it was your baby’s home. It transported the maiden to the mother.

Your body will change. And that is ok. 👌🏽

“The farther a woman travels to receive maternity care, the greater the risk of maternal morbidity and adverse infant outcomes, such as stillbirth and NICU admission. Furthermore, longer travel distances to care can cause financial strain on families and increased prenatal stress and anxiety. The distance a woman must travel to access care becomes a critical factor during pregnancy, at the time of birth, and in the case of emergencies. Nationwide closures of birthing hospitals have contributed to increased distance and travel time to care, especially in rural areas.”

❄️❄️❄️ Please don’t forget about our guests. The most dangerous cold is still ahead, and the need has not yet ended. ❄️❄️❄️

As of today, 82 people are staying in motels across Berea. 82 neighbors who are warm and safe tonight because this community showed up. RITI is only able to provide this service because of your generosity and the support of other community organizations who continue to stand with us during these critically low temperatures.

We are still working through extreme and dangerous weather. The National Weather Service is forecasting lows of -5° F on Friday night. We are 46% away from our $50,000 goal, and every gift helps ensure we can continue to provide safe lodging when the cold becomes life-threatening.

Please continue to share. And please help us make sure our guests remain safe while this extreme weather is far from over.

Thank you for being the reason 82 people have warmth, dignity, and shelter tonight.

$46 covers 1 motel room, $230 covers 5 rooms, and $460 covers 10 rooms. Every dollar counts. Make a gift to RITI today: https://givebutter.com/ritiberea Mail your check at PO Box 1450, Berea, KY 40403

“Alex was a nurse I worked with at the VA in the ICU. He used to tell people off when they made sexist comments to female physicians. He bought me coffee when I had a really bad day as an intern and saved my mental health more than once while there for a month.

Our VA ICU staff are still working today despite this and I BEG YOU TO DO SOMETHING ” - Dr Avalon Swenson .swagalon

Our Story

You know that feeling when you fall in love and you can’t quite remember when, but you don’t remember life beforehand?

That’s how I feel about my love of birth.

I don’t know when I first felt the inkling to become a doula.

It could have been when I discovered my parents’ copy of A Child Is Born. Amazed, slightly embarrassed, and intrigued at the full-spread image of a baby’s head emerging from between his mother’s legs.
