One should practice Japa and meditation at regular times giving up idleness. While living at Dakshineswar I used to get up at 3 o’clock in the morning and practice Japa and meditation. One day I felt a little indisposed and left the bed rather late. The next day I woke up still late through laziness. Gradually I found that I did not feel inclined to get up early at all. Then I said to myself, ‘Ah, at last I have fallen a victim to idleness.’ Thereupon I began to force myself to get up early. Gradually I got back my former habit. In such matters one should keep up the practice with unyielding resolution.

🪷Embodied Teaching & Magical Manual Hands-On Assists Intensive Workshop, with Marni Task🪷

🗓️ Saturday, March 7
🕛 12:00–2:00pm: Sun Salutations & Backbends
🕑 2:15–4:15pm: Forward Folds • Twists • Hip Openers

This professional development workshop is designed for yoga teachers and serious trainees who want to refine the clarity, safety, and effectiveness of their hands-on assists.

Because many manual adjustments for forward bends and hip openers overlap, we’ll use our time efficiently to master foundational assists in postures such as Paschimottanasana, Baddha Konasana, Janu Sirsasana, Uttanasana, Parsvottanasana, and more.

Key areas of focus include:
• Stabilizing the pelvis in forward folds and hip openers
• Creating intelligent leverage without over-directing force
• Supporting safe and effective rotation in twists
• Enhancing thoracic mobility while protecting the lumbar spine
• Developing confident, attuned, and responsive touch

Expect clear demonstrations, partner practice, and detailed alignment analysis. This is a hands-on, skill-building intensive intended to deepen both your technical understanding and embodied teaching presence.

Ideal for current teachers, 200-hour graduates, and those in teacher training seeking greater precision and confidence in manual adjustments.

In Yogic philosophy there are four paths to Yoga (Union with God).

•Karma yoga (Path of Action): Focuses on selfless service and acting without attachment to results.

•Jnana Yoga (Path of Knowledge): Involves intellectual study, contemplation, and introspection to understand the true nature of reality.

• Raja Yoga (Path of Meditation/Control): known as the "royal path," it focuses on disciplining the mind and controlling inner energy through meditation.

•Bhakti Yoga (Path of Devotion): Centers on unconditional love, worship, and surrender to the Divine. This path utilizes prayer, chanting, and ritual to cultivate emotional connection and compassion.

Bhakti Yoga is the foundation of all the paths of yoga because every path to the divine must involve compassion and unconditional love or else the practice turns cold, stale and empty.

Come join us for our 8 week Bhakti Yoga workshop starting March 6th where we will be reading Narada's Bhakti Sutras, Swami Vivekananda's Bhakti Yoga book, as well as chapter 12 of the Bhagavad Gita. Through the course we will be discussing how to cultivate a relationship to Divinity and compassion into our everyday life that moves us forward in our spiritual practice.
