We've all heard about how one community cat suddenly became dozens of community cats. Spaying and neutering -- TNR -- prevents that kind of overpopulation. There are other very good reasons to spay/neuter the cats in your life. A "fixed" cat is a healthier, happier cat. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
