It is an entirely normal response to feel a little bit sore the day after your massage—especially when we focus on deeper work on long-held tension.
Here’s what’s happening in your body:
💥 Muscle tissue is adjusting.
During your massage, we break up adhesions (aka “knots”), increase circulation, and work through restricted areas. Your muscles might respond with a temporary, workout-like soreness as they shift out of old tension patterns.
💧 New circulation = new sensation.
With fresh blood flow comes oxygen, nutrients—and sometimes a little sensitivity as the tissue rehydrates and resets.
🌀 Your nervous system is processing.
Massage affects not just muscles but fascia and the nervous system. That “sore but looser” feeling is your body integrating change.
What helps:
– Stay hydrated
– Gentle movement (a walk or light stretching)
– Rest if your body asks for it
✨ Soreness fades—relief stays. With regular massage therapy, your body will react less intensely to your services.
Got questions after a session? We’re always happy to talk you through what’s normal and what’s not.
