I can't believe we actually have to say this but taking Tylenol during pregnancy does not cause autism.
Early studies hinted at a possible correlation. But this was largely put to rest after a major 2024 study published in JAMA that looked at almost 2.5 MILLION children, compared siblings—one exposed to Tylenol in utero, the other not. This “natural experiment” took into account genetics and family environment, and the result was clear: the link disappeared.
It’s important that no woman feels the need to not adequately manage pain or fever during pregnancy or feel even remotely “responsible” for their child having autism.
