New technology that is currently available at some breast imaging centers. Awaiting results of study by the American College of Radiology, to determine if contrast enhanced mammography will help to improve detection of early breast cancer, especially in women with extremely dense breasts.
If the patient has a high risk for the development of breast cancer and she cannot get an MRI, she can have contrast and has mammography instead.
