Thankful Thursday!
Seems like there are a lot of things in this world right now to be sad and worried about. I thought it would be helpful for us to focus on what we are thankful about as well. Today I did a quick 15 minute workout and while stretching, I realized I am thankful that at 42 years old I can still touch my toes. I want to be able to do that until I’m 82 years old. 💕

The Family Acceptance Project (FAP) has launched a free online family support program for LGBTQ+ youth of color, ages 14-25, and their caregivers who are struggling with their youths’ LGBTQ+ identity.

This program is an online version of the Family Acceptance Project’s family support model to decrease family rejection and related health risks and to increase family support and well-being for LGBTQ+ youth.

Information about FAP’s online program:

This program includes both separate and shared sessions for caregivers and LGBTQ+ youth
The research that supports FAP's family support model is participatory, meaning racially, culturally, and religiously diverse families and LGBTQ youth helped to develop FAP’s model
LGBTQ+ youth can earn up to $240 and caregivers can earn up to $260 for participating in the program which is approved by the University of Michigan IRB

As many of you know, I grew up in the Hill Country of Texas, in Dripping Springs specifically. I have been devastated by the floods that have affected so many areas in the Hill Country. This is what I have decided to do. I am a therapist with a license in Texas, I will be donating my time. But I know most people I know from Texas, Georgia and Colorado aren't licensed in Texas as therapist and are wondering how they can help. I have highlighted some local people and groups that are doing good work down there right now and could use some $$$donations. So if you need a direction to point your money, please think about doing so on a local level. Thank you.

1. Cord Shiflet has been recommended by so many of my friends down in Austin and Dripping. He is on the ground and doing the big work with the big machines. His venmo is (you have to click on the business pages in venmo to find him. There are fake accounts, so make sure you spell it just like I did.)

2. Southern Oaks is a Church in Kerville, TX. They are on the ground with donations and money for locals. https://southernoakschurch.com/

3. https://www.handsoffcentraltx.org/ is a local non-partisan anti-fascist organization who normally is politically involved on the local level. They are organizing a lot of volunteers and monetary donations. They are asking for counselor volunteers as well.

4. Sandy Creek is an extremely hard hit area that the news is not covering much. Consider donating to their Leander Chamber of Commerce. https://leandercc.org/chamber-foundation/
