The weather outside was frightful, but that didn’t stop the War Memorial Hospital Auxiliary from hosting its annual Points of Light Tree Lighting ceremony, and by all accounts, it was delightful! The Auxiliary’s annual event, held on November 30 on the hospital’s campus, caps a year-long drive to raise money by selling lights on the tree in honor or memory of someone special.
Each yar, the star at the top of the tree is dedicated to a special person who has made an outstanding contribution to the hospital and community as a thank you for their "shining volunteer spirt." This year’s honoree was Margaret Ann Fearnow.

The residents of War Memorial Hospital’s Extended Care Unit have a special request this year, and you can help. They would like to decorate their Christmas tree with ornaments that have either an animal theme or anything to do with West Virginia. The residents will host their annual Christmas party on December 22, and would love to open as many ornaments as possible to decorate the tree. If you would like to participate, please either deliver your ornament to War Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit (follow the signs from the main lobby) or mail to the address below by December 19. Valley Health celebrated a ceremonial ribbon cutting of its newest specialty care facility, Valley Health Center for Orthopedic Excellence | Wi******er, on November 10. A team of three experienced providers offers comprehensive treatment for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including those affecting the knee, hip, elbow, wrist, and hand. The Center, located on the campus of Wi******er Medical Center, is the health system’s first general orthopedics practice in the Wi******er, VA area and part of a network of five additional Valley Health Center for Orthopedic Excellence locations in Martinsburg, Front Royal, Woodstock, New Market, and Luray. Our growing network of locations enables patients to receive comprehensive orthopedic care without leaving their local community.
