Pelvic floor problems aren’t just about weakness.

For the pelvic floor to work well, it needs strength, flexibility, coordination, and the ability to respond to pressure. When one of these is off, symptoms like pain, urgency, or leakage can show up.

Pelvic floor physical therapy focuses on restoring that balance so your body can function more comfortably again. 💙

When people think about pelvic floor issues, they often picture one or two symptoms. But pelvic floor dysfunction can show up in many lesser-known ways.

Some signs we commonly see include persistent hip or low back pain, tailbone or groin discomfort, leaking with coughing or sneezing, rushing to the bathroom, waking up multiple times at night to p*e, or feeling like you’re going far more often than usual.

These symptoms are common, but they’re not something you have to live with. And they’re often connected to how the pelvic floor muscles are working (or not working).

Pelvic floor physical therapy focuses on restoring coordination, strength, and relaxation so your body can function more comfortably again.

💙 Awareness is the first step.
If any of this sounds familiar, pelvic floor PT can help.

New year, new goals. And more movement is a great one. 💪

But when activity levels increase quickly, the pelvic floor can sometimes struggle to keep up. Running, lifting, jumping, or high-impact workouts all rely on pelvic floor support and coordination. 💙

Moving mindfully, progressing gradually, and paying attention to breathing and pressure can help prevent symptoms like leaking, pelvic pain, or heaviness.

Starting strong doesn’t mean starting fast.
Pelvic floor physical therapy can help you build a foundation that supports long-term movement and confidence.

Stomach flu or food poisoning can do more than upset your stomach.

Frequent diarrhea and urgency place repeated stress on the pelvic floor muscles. Rushing to the bathroom, tightening to avoid accidents, and frequent bowel movements can disrupt coordination and muscle control.

For some people, this can lead to lingering symptoms like urgency, leakage, or pelvic discomfort, even after the illness has passed.

Pelvic floor physical therapy helps retrain these muscles, restore balance, and support recovery after illness.

If something feels different after being sick, your pelvic floor may be asking for support. 💙

Breathing isn’t just about your lungs. It affects your entire body, including your pelvic floor.

When nasal congestion or illness makes breathing harder, many people unknowingly hold their breath or use shallow breathing patterns. Over time, this can increase tension in the pelvic floor and contribute to symptoms like pressure, pain, or urgency.

Learning how to breathe efficiently and manage pressure in the body is a key part of pelvic floor physical therapy.

Your breath matters more than you think. 💙

When you’re sick and can’t breathe well through your nose, your body changes how it manages pressure. The diaphragm works harder, breathing gets shallower, and the pelvic floor often responds by tightening to keep up.

Over time, that extra tension can contribute to symptoms like heaviness or leaking, especially if you already have pelvic floor sensitivity.

The good news? Gentle breathwork and pelvic floor support can help your body stay balanced even during cold and flu season. Need help figuring out where to start? DM us or visit www.levelupwellpt.com.
