Hi everyone! I’ve noticed so many new faces here lately, so I wanted to take a moment to properly introduce myself.
I’m Dr. Shay Nicholas, the founder of Kintsu MedSpa & Wellness. Long before I entered the world of aesthetics, I felt a deep calling to care for people. That calling led me to medicine. I earned my MD from the University of Connecticut after studying Chemistry and Mathematics at Brooklyn College in New York City.
I then spent more than 20 years practicing Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, including training at Johns Hopkins. My career was dedicated to caring for patients in some of the most critical moments of their lives. That experience shaped everything about how I practice medicine today, with presence, integrity, and deep respect for the trust people place in me.
People often ask me, “How did you go from saving lives to aesthetics?”
Honestly, I used to wonder the same thing. But everything shifted after I attended a Botox gathering hosted by a close physician friend. What struck me wasn’t the treatment itself. It was the joy. Watching someone look in the mirror and feel brighter, more confident, more like themselves was powerful. I realized that helping someone feel good about themselves is also a form of healing.
My background taught me that aging is a privilege. My Caribbean upbringing taught me that joy, vitality, and self-care are part of living well at every stage of life. Aesthetic medicine became a natural extension of those beliefs.
At Kintsu, my goal has never been to dramatically change how someone looks. I’m passionate about enhancing natural beauty and helping people feel refreshed, confident, and aligned with how they want to show up in the world.
When you sit in my chair, I don’t see a treatment area. I see a whole person. Your goals, your comfort, and your safety always come first.
And when I’m not in the clinic, you’ll usually find me spending time with my three sons and our Goldendoodle, Eevee, traveling, going to concerts, watching movies, or diving into a good history book.
If you’re new here, welcome. I’m so glad you’re part of this community. 🤍
