It’s that time of year again—the dreaded cold and flu season. 🤒

Luckily, there are many ways to protect yourself and others. 🛡️

Here are some everyday actions you can take to help prevent the spread of germs that cause illnesses like cold and flu. ✅

Since colds and the flu are caused by viruses, antibiotics (which target bacteria) are ineffective. Over-the-counter medications might relieve some symptoms, but they won’t change the course of the illness. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year. 💉🏥

Info about UHS flu shots is available at uhs.berkeley.edu/flushots (link in bio!)

📣 Attention UC Berkeley students: Don't forget that Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend. ⏰ ⏪

Remember to turn your clocks back one hour on Saturday night or on Sunday morning (smartphones update automatically).

Sunrise and sunset will be about 1 hour earlier on Nov 2 than the day before. During this time of year, days are also shorter, so there will be more light during the mornings, and it will get darker earlier in the evenings.
