๐ฉธ Stop Yanking the Placenta.
Why are so many OBs still forcefully pulling placentas out of peopleโs bodies like itโs garbage that needs to be evacuated?
The placenta is not a nuisance.
Itโs an organ.
A sacred one.
One that sustained life.
One that deserves respect.
Parents can birth their placentas on their own, physiologically, gently, and without someone yanking on the cord like theyโre starting a lawnmower.
Forced cord traction isnโt always necessary.
In fact, it disrupts physiology, increases risk of hemorrhage, and disrespects the final stage of labor.
But theyโre in a rush.
They donโt trust the body.
They donโt trust you.
And yet, that final birth, of the placenta, deserves just as much reverence as the baby who came before it.
Stop treating the end of labor like a cleanup job.
Itโs still birth.
And it still matters.
