Abyssinia Birth Services

Abyssinia Birth Services I provide physical, emotional and informational support to expecting families through the childbirth Doula comes from the Greek word for "woman's servant."

My name is Sarah Abigail Ejigu, known affectionately as Abby, and I am a professionally trained labor doula. As a mother of three, I know first hand the excitement of growing a family, and the many questions that come along with it. It is my mission to empower mothers as they begin the humble work of parenting. I can help expecting families get a loving start by supporting the birthing mother with physical comfort measures, emotional reassurance and comprehensive information regarding options and interventions in pregnancy, childbirth and the immediate postpartum period. A doula is an independent contractor and works for you, not your caregiver or hospital. My home base is located in Berkeley, CA and I serve the San Francisco Bay Area community. I participate in support networks in the community and online advocating for breastfeeding and informed birth options. Please contact me for a FREE CONSULTATION.

The Black Panther Party has courageously taken to the streets, to stand up against unjust brutality and shield the immigrant community from harm.

The legendary self-defense group, has been a beacon of hope in the fight against injustice in America for decades, inspiring countless individuals.

Sources claim up to a million Americans may feel compelled to join forces with them in Minneapolis to defend the constitution.

Please join me and pray for the safety of the Black Panthers!

The American College of Nurse-Midwives mourns the devastating death of Dr. Janell Green Smith, CNM, who died from complications of childbirth. Dr. Smith was a respected midwife, scholar, and advocate whose life and work reflected a deep commitment to respectful, evidence-based, and equitable care.

That a Black midwife and maternal health expert died after giving birth in the United States is both heartbreaking and unacceptable. Her death underscores the persistent and well-documented reality that Black women—regardless of education, income, or professional expertise—face disproportionate risks during pregnancy and childbirth due to systemic racism and failures in care.

We grieve Dr. Smith’s loss and recognize it as a profound failure of the systems meant to protect birthing people. In her honor, ACNM commits not only to reaffirming our values, but to intensifying our actions to dismantle racial inequities in maternal health, strengthen accountability in care systems, and work alongside Black midwives, clinicians, and communities to prevent future tragedies.

We extend our deepest condolences to Dr. Smith’s family, loved ones, and the midwifery community. We carry her legacy forward with urgency, humility, and resolve.

Please pray for this grieving family. This was 💯 preventable.

We saw it coming, and Black women are the canary in the coal mine. So now we die. Shame on our Supreme Court, blood is on your hands. Please VOTE! Lives depend on it.

Candi Miller’s family said she didn't visit a doctor “due to the current legislation on pregnancies and abortions.” Maternal health experts deemed her death preventable and blamed Georgia’s abortion ban.

WHAT IN THE LEGISLATED F**K!???!!

Louisiana's governor on Friday enacted a bill making his state the first in the U.S. to classify two abortion-inducing medications as controlled substances, a category that healthcare regulators typically reserve for drugs that may be abused or cause addiction.
