At Ala Costa Centers, we have always been committed to providing inclusive and accessible educational opportunities for our community of children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our building at 1300 Rose Street in Berkeley has been a hub of learning, growth, and community engagement for all Ala Costa students and participants. We have taken significant steps towards improving our services, and we would like to introduce you to our latest project: the creation of an ADA-compliant universally designed kitchen.
As part of our participation in Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, November 28, we are launching a month-long GoFundMe campaign with a goal to raise $12,000 to update all the appliances for this newly designed kitchen. When it's completed, this kitchen will be a centerpiece of activity for our services, a place where both our adult students and Berkeley after-school students can learn to cook in an accessible space, all while enhancing the overall beauty of our building.
With ADA-compliant features, we can ensure that every person of all abilities, can participate in cooking classes and various culinary activities, foster increased autonomy and promote empowerment for all our participants. This project is close to our hearts, and we believe it will significantly benefit our students and staff.
We are reaching out to our dedicated supporters because your continued generosity has been vital to our success. All your contributions support us to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.
