My little baby valentine 👶🏻💌 I love you as much as you love milk 🫶🥛

People keep telling me to enjoy these moments because they are fleeting. So when I feel like I haven’t gotten enough done in the day, I remind myself I’m doing the most important work I’ll ever do.

Our little party boy made his big debut on New Year’s Eve 🪩 the same day his Mom and Dad started dating 12 years ago 🥹 that’s some divine timing if you ask me…It feels like our souls were always meant to be together 💫 Life is forever changed in the best way possible. Pregnancy has been filled with challenges and gifts that have allowed me to release old layers that are no longer serving me and without a doubt step into a better version of myself. So grateful for all the lessons I’ve learned while housing this little human. ♥️

I’m totally leaning into the holiday baby vibes! the burning question is…will he be a Christmas baby?!…we’ll just have to wait and see 😉

My latest obsession….

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie 🎃 🥧🥤

~ 1 cup almond milk (I used )
~ 1 frozen pumpkin purée cube 🎃🧊 (I used silicon ice cube trays and filled each cube with about 1/4 cup pumpkin purée)
~ 1 TBSP chia seeds
~ 1 TBSP ground flaxseed
~ 1 TBSP almond butter
~ 1 pitted date (the chewy date bits are to sooo yum)
~ 1 serving collagen peptides or vanilla protein powder (I used collagen)
~ Sprinkle cinnamon
~ Handful granola (gives it a pumpkin pie crust vibe)
blend it 🌪️
top it with a little whipped cream if you’re feelin frisky 🐈☁️

Macros:
480 cals
26g protein
13g fiber
37g net carbs
24g fat

~ low-glycemic carb, meaning it gives you slow, steady energy without spiking blood sugar.
~ good source of fiber for digestion
~ rich in minerals like magnesium and potassium
~ natural source of vit c, zinc, antioxidants for immune support

Here’s what I’ve been nibbling on in third tri…

~ pumpkin muffins & cookies
~ breakfast sandwiches
~ all the bone broth soups
~ smoothies packed w/ collagen (protein) & chia + flax (fiber)
~ eating out more than normal but still cooking at home a lot
~ lots of red meat to get my iron stores up
~ bread w/ copious amounts of butter 🧈
~ still choosing some lower carb options like mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes and pasta
~ minimal sugar cravings but when it hits, I want an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie 🍪

Here’s a few blood sugar hacks I implemented while eating out in Big Sur ⬇️

𝟏. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫: Eat fiber first, then protein + fat, and save carbs/ sugar for last. You blunt the blood sugar spike when you eat food in this order.

𝟐. 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Go halfsies on carbs…like ½ rice, ½ greens instead of a giant pile of rice. Portions matter when it comes to balancing blood sugar… you don’t have to completely restrict! A little of everything is my motto!

𝟑. 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭: Even a 10-min stroll after meals helps your body use that glucose instead of storing it.

Eating healthy isn’t all about a yes/no food list, it’s about STRATEGY.

I love using blood sugar balance as a healthy eating strategy because there are all kinds of cool hacks you can implement to keep your blood sugar in check ✔️ without restricting all carbs and sugar.

When you keep blood sugar in check, you have less cravings, less fat storage, less energy dips, less inflammation and a lot more control over your food choices.

This is the strategy I’ve used for years on myself and with my coaching clients.

Now that I’m in pregnancy mode, I’m starting to learn all the interesting things that happen with your blood sugar during pregnancy 🤯

I’m gunna slap on a CGM next week to see what’s really going on under the hood 🩸 Stay tuned…more to come!
