Relationship Based Care is that the heart of the midwifery care at Pacifica Maternity. Whether you are looking for a birth center or a home birth, our team of 3 midwives will be with you and your family through your journey. To us, Relationship Based Care means…

🌿 Continuity of care through pregnancy, birth, and 6 weeks postpartum. You will be getting to know 2-3 midwives who will be with you at prenatal appointments, attending your birth, and caring for you and your baby during the home visits and clinic visits after birth. Regardless of where your birth journey takes you, we are there to support you and your family. You will be familiar with the team supporting you during birth.

🌿 1-hour long, private appointments leave time for you to get your questions answered and feel heard. Getting to know you and your family is an essential part of the Relationship Based Care our midwives offer, and we enjoy getting to know you and your entire family unit! This extra time to understand you and your birth goals builds trust between midwives and families.

🌿 By caring for the birthing parent and the new baby as a unit, we see a complete picture of this new sacred relationship and are able to offer supportive assistance and encouragement. Some of the specific offerings that are available are Well-baby care during home visits, delayed chord clamping, lactation support, individualized parent education and support around caring for their new baby. Offering these services in the comfort of your home nurtures your connection with your new little one by allowing you time to heal and rest without needing to leave the house.

🌿 Our midwives know when to step in and offer support and when to step back and allow the intuition of the birthing person and family to guide. We welcome as many support people as you would like to attend your birth at the birth center or at home. Birth is an individual journey and we honor each person’s choice and decision making while offering our own knowledge and wisdom where appropriate to help you make informed choices that are right for you and your family.
