🌟 Spotlight Saturday: Aaron 🌟

Aaron’s journey in healthcare began as a caregiver at an assisted living home, where he discovered his passion for helping others. In September 2016, he joined the HealthQuest family as a physical therapy technician at our Macomb location, refining his exercise skills and deepening his love for the profession.

After experiencing his own low back surgery in 2021, Aaron gained firsthand insight into physical therapy from a patient’s perspective—an experience he now brings to every patient he treats. In September 2023, he proudly became a PT at Macomb, specializing in orthopedic, neurological, and geriatric care.

Aaron is also passionate about exploring canine rehabilitation in the future, extending his care beyond people to our furry friends! 🐾

🌟 Spotlight Saturday 🌟
Meet Amanda! 🙌 She joined HealthQuest Rochester Hills (Crooks Rd.) in August 2023 as a PTA and has been making a difference for her patients ever since.

Amanda’s passion for PT started back in middle school after going through therapy for multiple injuries. That early experience sparked her interest in the field, and working as a HealthQuest Tech while applying for PTA school confirmed she had found the perfect career path 💙.

One of her favorite parts of being a PTA is the variety—working with different patient populations and conditions keeps every day rewarding and unique.

Outside the clinic, you’ll usually find Amanda enjoying the outdoors with her animals 🐾 or spending time with friends and family. ❤️

This month’s ‘Ask the Therapist’ is brought to you by our Romeo owner and director, Donald Felstow, MS, PT, OMPT, CSCS.

Q: WHEN MY KNEE HURTS, I TEND TO LIMP. IS THIS CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE?
A: Limping is a very common response to knee pain—it’s your body’s natural way of trying to reduce pressure on the joint. In the short term, it can help you get around more comfortably. But if limping continues for days or weeks, it can create bigger problems for the rest of your body.
When you limp, your body weight shifts unevenly. This changes the way your muscles, joints, and spine have to work. Over time, this can lead to:
- Hip pain from carrying more load on one side
- Back pain due to uneven posture and altered movement
- Foot and ankle strain on the leg doing extra work
- Increased wear-and-tear on your “good” knee
In other words, while limping protects your painful knee in the moment, it may put the rest of your body at risk if left unaddressed.
