Coming this Wednesday

Attention runners, walkers, riders, rollers, and anyone else who wants to be a part of an awesome event and support an amazing cause in Metro Detroit. September 14th at Howell High School will be an inclusive 5k walk, run, and roll. This is a timed race but all paces are welcome. Strollers, chariots, and racing wheelchairs are welcome and encouraged.

This event supports both Ainsley's Angels in Michigan and Special Olympics Livingston County. For those who don’t know, I am a part of Ainsley’s Angels. Ainsley’s Angels partners able bodied athletes with athletes with physical, developmental, intellectual, or medical disabilities to get us off the sidelines and across the finish line! As a rider with Ainsley’s Angels, I have been able to be a part of multiple races including 1 mile, 5k, 10k, half marathon, and marathon races. Outside of a couple large races we fundraise for, riders such as myself never have to pay to participate.

As a rider with Ainsley’s Angels, I have been able to learn to accept my disabilities while becoming an outspoken advocate as well as becoming part of an amazing family and support system. I have also met some of the most important people in my life as well as watched countless people experience joy, inclusion, empowerment, and belonging often times in ways never experienced before. This experience isn’t just for the riders or runners, but anyone around us as well.

Please consider being a part of this race while helping us raise money for more chariots, equipment maintenance, rider race entries, and other operational costs.

I recently had the opportunity to provide a training for over 25 volunteers at a church in Macomb County, that will be starting a special needs ministry in September. What a passionate team! Please join me in praying for this church and these awesome people.
