We are enjoying spring and seeing many of our equine patients this time of year! If you have not already had a visit, spring is the perfect time to schedule your horse’s annual wellness visit. We recommend the Core EQ vaccine for all horses to protect against Eastern and Western Equine Encephalitis, West Nile Virus, tetanus, and rabies-diseases that are present in our area and can be life-threatening. Depending on your horse’s lifestyle, we may also recommend additional vaccines such as Potomac horse fever or Calvenza for influenza and herpesvirus. Spring visits are also a great time for Coggins testing which is required for most off-the farm travel, a full physical exam, dental evaluation, sedated sheath cleaning, and discussing nutrition or ongoing health concerns. Please let us know if you would like to get your horse on our spring schedule!
