“Every day, I carry my donor with me,” Melinda says. “This is how I say thank you.”

Twelve years ago, Melinda received a lifesaving heart transplant. Today, she’s come full circle - working as a registered nurse at ThedaCare, caring for patients with the same compassion she once received.

What a night at the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers! We were proud to join our partners at Children's Wisconsin and Emplify Health by Bellin to celebrate Fang’s birthday and connect with families across Northeast Wisconsin.

From cheering on Dr. Douglas Zabrowski as he threw the first pitch, to hearing one of Children’s superstar patients sing a beautiful rendition of the national anthem, it was a night to remember. Families also went home with special Fang jerseys and enjoyed fun activities from both Children’s and ThedaCare teams.

Through our Connected for Kids partnership, we’re working together to ensure children and teens in our communities have access to exceptional pediatric care - close to home.

Our Nurse Residency team recently got creative as they focused on pressure injury education. After an in-depth presentation from one of our wound care nurses, participants were challenged to sculpt their own pressure injuries using modeling clay and supplies - a powerful (and memorable!) way to reinforce what they’ve learned.

The models will be put on display, and team members will vote for the most creative model.

When Joe Toonen felt an unusual ache in his arm, he never expected it would lead to a stage 3 lung cancer diagnosis.

With courage, early action, and a compassionate care team by his side, Joe fought through chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and immunotherapy — emerging a survivor.

“Ringing the bell” marked a powerful moment of victory and hope, reminding us all that cancer care is more than treatment; it’s about community, resilience, and breakthroughs that save lives.

Joe’s journey inspires us to support cancer research and care programs that make a real difference — for him, and for so many others.

To meet the growing needs of the communities we serve, we are pleased to announce ThedaCare and Wisconsin Institute of Urology have signed a transaction for ThedaCare to acquire Wisconsin Institute of Urology, the largest independent urology practice in the state, and become the majority member of the ambulatory surgery center, Wisconsin Institute of Surgical Excellence.

The vision of our enhanced urology care team is to ensure access to services for people in northeast and central Wisconsin by sharing best practices and creating stronger, more integrated care journeys for our patients. The breadth of current urology services is planned to continue.

As smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to affect air quality across Wisconsin, it’s important for those at higher risk - like children, older adults, people who are pregnant, or those managing chronic conditions - to take precautions.

But even with the haze, some are staying active in safe, creative ways. Seniors at a local activity center in Appleton aren’t letting the smoke slow them down.
