If a death has occurred, call us 24/7 at (603) 752-1344. Walters & Co.

Established in 1893 by Arthur W. Walters, our funeral home has been a pillar of service and support for area families for over a century. Since its founding, we have remained committed to providing compassionate care to those in need during life’s most difficult moments. In 1928, Bradford S. Parker joined A.W. and later purchased the business from Arthur Walters. Mr. Parker then formed a partnership with G. Harold Holmes, and together, they relocated the funeral home to its current location at 180 Hillside Avenue in Berlin. In 1966, Bertrand E. Bryant of Colebrook, NH, acquired the business. Alongside his wife, Beverly, Bert dedicated many years to serving the community with professionalism and care. Recognizing the need for expanded services, the Bryants acquired the Wilson Funeral Home business of Gorham and, in 1977, constructed a new facility at 1 Promenade Street, Gorham, which opened in 1978. Bert’s son, B. Edward Bryant, joined the family business in 1981, continuing the tradition of service. In 1995, Ed and his wife, Laurie, became the owners, ensuring that the funeral home remained locally owned and family-operated. As consumer preference for cremation increased over the years, the Bryants opened an on-site crematorium at the Berlin location in 2015. With more families choosing cremation, this addition ensured that loved ones remained under our direct care throughout the entire process, upholding our unwavering commitment to dignity, respect, and trust. The family legacy continued in 2016 when Ed and Laurie’s son, David, joined the funeral home following his graduation from FINE Mortuary College, marking the third generation of Bryant family funeral directors. In 2020, the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, formerly located on High Street, merged with our firm. Originally founded as Fleury Funeral Homes by Oscar F. Fleury in 1936, the firm served families across multiple generations, continuing through Oscar’s son-in-law, Raymond N. Patry, and later his grandson, Michael A. Patry. After Mr. Patry's retirement, the funeral home underwent several ownership transitions before ultimately returning to family ownership under the Bryant family, ensuring the continued legacy of compassionate and dedicated service. By bringing Fleury-Patry under our stewardship, we have ensured that families in our community continue to receive dignified and affordable services. Today, families previously served by Fleury-Patry Funeral Home are welcomed at our Berlin and Gorham locations, where we honor their traditions while offering the highest level of professional care. Today, we remain a funeral home that has earned the trust of generations in our communities and throughout the region. We remain steadfast in our mission: to serve the families of Berlin, Gorham, and the surrounding communities with the highest level of compassion, professionalism, and dedication. We are proud to be family-owned and family-trusted.

Beatrice M. Poulin

On November 20, 2025, our family lost its matriarch, and heaven gained a special angel. Beatrice M. (Delisle) Poulin, 94, of Northfield, NH, who was born to Andre and Eva (Michaud) Delisle, reared and worked in Berlin, NH, passed peacefully in her sleep during a short stay at the Merrimack County Nursing Home. She had a zest for life beyond most people and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was nurturing and supportive to all, encouraging everyone to strive to be their best in whatever they undertook. She herself was strong-minded, and when undertaking a task was not only determined to see it through, but to ensure it was done correctly and to the best of her abilities. She enjoyed family gatherings of all sorts, loved to laugh, dance, and have a little nip now and then. She enjoyed socializing, traveling, card playing, was a perfectionist when it came to arts and crafts, crocheting, knitting, quilting, and sewing. She loved the outdoors, swimming, fishing, and especially gardening. She was a terrific cook and baker; many of her nieces have fond memories of her bake sales where 24 pies and dozens of cookies and sweet breads were never enough. Her favorite saying was “you need to spend money to make money,” and that she did – when she did something, she went all out. She was a hard worker as a towel packer for the Brown Company, a waitress, cook, cleaner, and seamstress, and in her later years, was a private home care provider to many.

She will be greatly missed and is survived by her youngest son, George Poulin of Northfield, NH, granddaughters Samantha Poulin and Krystle (John) Poulin-Carter, great grandchildren Cali Jo and Hannah Powell, and Ian Carter all of Brooklet, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Nancy Delisle of Wakefield, NH, and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Henri Poulin (1982), her son, Joseph Poulin (1986), brothers (and their spouses): George (Nancy), Paul (Priscilla), Andrew “Fat” (Sally), Richard “Cockeye” (Cheryl), Leo (Helen), Maurice (Lauraine) Delisle and sister Lucille Delisle.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 1PM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 11AM-12:30PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her memory to The Edna McKenna Trust Fund at Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303. Shirley W. Klungler

Shirley W. Klungler, 89, of Gorham, NH, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, after a period of failing health.

She was born Shirley Viola Wilbur on November 11, 1936, in Kingfield, Maine, the youngest daughter of Lionel and Velma (Danico) Wilbur. She attended the schools in Kingfield, graduating from high school in 1955. She then attended Boston University, graduating with her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1959.

Shirley met her husband of 66 years, Erwin Klungler, in Kingfield. Erwin immigrated to the United States in 1956 to work in the wood turning industry there. The two were married on June 20, 1959, shortly after her college graduation. They settled in Kingfield and she began her teaching career as a high school teacher. Upon the birth of their only son, Shirley left her full- time teaching career to care for him. During that time, she worked part-time at Sugarloaf ski area where she also enjoyed skiing, and she sold AVON. Shirley was a minimalist when it came to makeup, but her signature trait was her nails; she kept them very long and polished, receiving many compliments about them.

In 1968, she and Erwin moved to Yonkers, New York for a new job opportunity. They remained in Yonkers for a year, relocating to Claremont, NH with the business in 1969. She restarted her teaching career in Claremont and taught fifth grade for 29 years. She enjoyed teaching children the joy of learning about their world and was well-respected and loved by her students. She could masterfully engage even the most challenging students. After her retirement, she and Erwin traveled frequently to Kingfield to care for her family homestead. They relocated to Gorham in 2005 as it was the half way point between Claremont and Kingfield.

Shirley had a wonderful passion for movies and travel. When she was in grade school, she would walk to the local theatre in Kingfield and watch the shows when possible. She maintained her love for movies throughout her life and was always up for a good science fiction movie or thriller. Her dreams about travel began when she was a young girl; she created a scrap book of the ocean liners of the time that would take her to faraway lands. She realized her

dream of being able to explore and travel after she married Erwin. They travelled extensively across the US and throughout Europe. Her most exotic trip was to Egypt, where she delighted in experiencing the history about which she had been teaching in her social studies class. Even when they weren’t traveling to faraway places, they were taking in new sights in the local area.

Shirley also had a passion for sports and reading. She coached girls’ sports while teaching high school. Once her grandchildren were active in sports, she and Erwin would also make special trips to support her grandsons’ t-ball and baseball games and other events. She faithfully followed the Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots, allowing herself to be swept away by TB12 during his era. For many years she would walk daily to Byrne Auto Center to purchase the Boston Globe just to keep up with the sports teams. It was a sad day when Byrne had to stop selling the Globe. Reading avidly for years, she instilled a love of reading to anyone who would be swayed.

Shirley also loved her dogs and cats; having had many to dote on in her childhood and through her married years until she retired. In her middle years, her interest in photography led her to create a dark room in her Claremont home by spray painting the windows black. In her later years, she became masterful at puzzle building and enjoyed the challenge of solving Sudoku.

Shirley had a passion for living and enjoyed each new day to the fullest. She loved visits from her son and his family and knew how to enjoy their company well. She imparted much wisdom and she was never compromising of her values. She was an encourager and would make a person feel loved and appreciated. She was very no-nonsense but knew how to have fun. She never stopped dreaming of going on new adventures.

Shirley is survived by her husband Erwin; her son Scott (Marcia); three grandsons Kyle (Kari), Daniel (Lizzy), and Samuel; and five great-grandchildren Nanci, Rikki, Heidi, Duncan and Lawson; along with nieces, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

There will be a graveside service for family and friends on May 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Kingfield, Maine. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to North Country Home Health & Hospice Agency, www.nchhha.org. Their support in Shirley’s final weeks was very much appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes of Berlin & Gorham, NH. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.bryantfuneralhome.net

Glen R. Eastman

Glen Eastman, 101, of Gorham NH passed away peacefully at home on November 18, 2025, surrounded by family and friends who dearly loved him.

Glen was born in Berlin NH, attended Berlin schools and graduated from Berlin High in 1942. He then joined the Army Air Corps to serve his country during World War II as a gunnery instructor for B-25 bombers. After the war, he attended the University of New Hampshire on the GI Bill, earning a BA in Business.

After college, he and his brother Charlie opened Eastman's Furniture Store which helped many young families furnish their first homes. When they closed the store, he accepted a position as the Director of the Tri-County Community Action Program and many of the programs he started in the area still exist today. He co-owned and operated Belco Excavating Company and did snow removal until he finally retired at the ripe old age of 90.

He was a long time Selectman in the town of Gorham, serving for about 15 years, and was named Honorary Lifetime Selectman on the occasion of his 100th Birthday. He was a proud member of the Free and Accepted Masons Gorham-Sabitis Lodge #73. Glen was a visionary and he deeply respected the history of our area. He was instrumental in saving what was known as the Bishop Home on Main Street in Gorham. He spearheaded the project that moved the building to its present location on Railroad St, where this beautiful historic building serves as the Gorham Public Library. Many remember him riding on the roof of the house, carefully watching for power lines, as it moved down Main Street. He was a lifetime member of the Paul T. Doherty Memorial Forest Committee. A long time supporter of the Arts, he was involved in the Waumbek Music and Arts Festival during its time in Jefferson, NH. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and skiing; he was a true outdoorsman. At the age of 80 he pitched his final softball game. He loved spending time with his family at his camp on Lake Umbagog. Deeply patriotic, his favorite holiday was the Fourth of July and he is known across the area (particularly to local law enforcement) for his dynamic firework displays; a passion that he has passed down to his children and grandchildren.

He was a remarkable man who believed in family and community service and lived his life as an example to all. He met his wife Janice at his furniture store and their whirlwind romance turned into a beautiful lifetime legacy of love. He was a loving father and grandfather and a mentor to many in the community. For years he met his friends, known as the 'Breakfast Club", every day for coffee, initially at Welsh's and later at McDonald's, where the conversations were lively and varied. He was a strong, robust man with a thoughtful intellect and a kind generous nature. Fiercely independent, he drove until after his 101st birthday and retained his strong mind and legendary sense of humor until the end. He was equally at home in the backwoods of NH and in elegant surroundings and could enjoy a conversation with anyone from the Governor to local citizens. No matter where he traveled, Glen usually found someone he knew.

He leaves his loving wife of 62 years, Janice, his children, Mark Eastman and wife Rachel; Michael Eastman and wife Judy; June Eastman and companion Steve; Toni Taylor and husband Joe, and six grandchildren, Amy Eastman, Tammy Coulombe, Dylan Rychlik, Jonathan Taylor, Gregory Taylor, and Sara Taylor, as well as numerous dear friends in the community. He was predeceased by his oldest son, Glen Eastman II (Dicky) and his older siblings, Charles Eastman and June Riso.

The family would like to express their gratitude to North Country Home Health and Hospice whose assistance enabled our family to keep Glen in his home for his final months.

Bryant Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 23rd from 2-4 pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St, Gorham. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, November 24th at St Paul Lutheran Church, 101 Norway St, Berlin NH.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Glen's honor to the Veteran organization, Tunnels to Tower, at https://t2t.org, North Country Home Health and Hospice at www.nchhha.org, or a charity of your choice.

Victoria G. Bouchard

Victoria G. Bouchard (Lacasse), 97, of Berlin, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the Saint Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born in Hardwick, Vermont on September 13, 1928, the daughter of the late Leo and Rose Aimee (Boucher) Lacasse. She lived most of her life in Berlin, NH. She married Rene R. Bouchard on June 12, 1948 (married 72 years) and together they raised three children.

Victoria spent her early years working in her dad's logging company, assisting her mother preparing food in the logging camps, where she developed her cooking skills. She was the oldest of five children and the family matriarch, hosting family gatherings and holidays including Christmas Eve, "Le Reveillon". As a young woman, she worked at Brown Company in the towel room. She later returned to her cooking roots and worked in the Berlin School System cafeteria.

The Bouchard family spent over 70 years on Lake Umbagog. She loved to swim, for hours and miles at a time, and water skiing. She was the chief boat driver. Summers at camp included lots of berry picking, ensuring everyone met their quota. Gardening was also a family event, and canning season brought momentary chaos to an otherwise pristine kitchen. The family certainly enjoyed the rewards year round. Her home smelled of fresh baked goods and of course piccalilli relish.

Victoria was adventurous and active, introducing her children to many outdoor activities. She was blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren and after retirement she dedicated a lot of her time to providing childcare. She knew everyone's favorite meals and loved to cook for them, not only for their birthday dinners but on a routine basis.

She was always ready for a road trip, attending her children's and grandchildren's events. For over 20 years you could find her cheering on BHS teams from the bleachers.

She was a strong, determined woman and didn't hesitate to carry a bundle of roofing shingles up a ladder. Her resilience was tested when she lost her son to an automobile incident. She redirected her energy to learning the English language in her forties. She had many friends, joined a morning coffee group. and dedicated time to service St. Anne's parish as a Dame de St. Anne. She loved to play cards and was a challenging opponent when playing "le pique" or canasta. She also loved to make jigsaw puzzles. A wonderful, loving woman who will be truly missed.

Victoria is survived by her daughter Linda Arsenault and husband John, and daughter Sylvia Scarinza, her grandchildren, Paula Poirier and husband Rollie, Bethany Arsenault and wife Joanne, Arielle Arsenault-Benoit and husband Patrick. She was also blessed with seven great grandchildren, Alex Poirier, Olen Arsenault, Lumi Arsenault, Genevieve Benoit, Soren Arsenault, Sigge Arsenault and Benni Arsenault. She was predeceased by her husband, Rene Bouchard, her son, Ronnie Bouchard, her brothers, Paul and Real Lacasse, sisters, Florence Gauthier and Marie Lyons and many friends and extended family

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant Street, Berlin, with interment following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, prior to mass at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin. Donna B. Harris

Donna Jean (Bailey) Harris passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, in Berlin, New Hampshire at age 79. She leaves behind her loving husband of 51 years, Robert (Bob) Harris; her two daughters, Regan Harris and Rachel Crist; her son-in-law DJ Crist and Rachel and DJ’s three sons, Ryan, Braden, and Gavin. She also leaves behind her sister Marcia Wilkinson and brother-in-law John Wilkinson, her nephew Craig Wilkinson and his wife Michelle, and their children Nathan, Claire, Audrey, Emily and Annie. Additionally, she is survived by her cousins Ron Pisciotta and Jeff Pisciotta, along with Jeff’s wife Nancy and their children and grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Madeline and Chester Bailey, aunts and uncles Grace and Charles Murphy and Carolyn and Joseph Pisciotta, and a great-nephew, Connor Wilkinson.Donna was born on April 16, 1946 at Wi******er Hospital in Wi******er, Massachusetts, and grew up in Belmont. She and her family often enjoyed vacations to Seabrook, New Hampshire, where she and her sister and cousins spent many happy hours as “The Seashore Club.” She graduated Belmont High School and Salve Regina College, Cum Laude, with a degree in Special Education and a minor in Sociology. After graduation, she left her home state of Massachusetts to teach school in San Diego. While in San Diego, she met a visiting marine named Bob Harris, who was stationed in Yuma, Arizona. Donna and Bob became partners for life, marrying on July 20, 1974 in Massachusetts. She then relocated to Honolulu, Hawaii, where Bob was stationed, assuming the role of military wife. While there she also became a mother when her first daughter, Regan, was born. The young family relocated to Donna’s home state of Massachusetts, settling in Stoneham. While living there, a second daughter, Rachel, joined the family. Donna was a gifted homemaker, cook and baker, even able to turn leftovers into unique creations! She also reveled in the changing of the seasons, teaching her children to watch for seasonal flowers, the first robin of spring, and to savor the different types of apples that came out in the fall. Although her primary role was that of wife and mother, Donna occasionally did substitute teaching and tutoring. In 1988, the family adopted a puppy named Zeke and she loved having him as part of the family. She supported her husband when he assumed his first senior pastor position in East Boston in 1989 and again when he became the pastor of Clinton Assembly of God in 1994. She was a gifted teacher, teaching Sunday school and other classes, and was a mentor to many. Her motto was that whatever she taught needed to make a difference in people’s lives when their alarm clocks rang on Monday morning, and she put a great deal of effort into teaching concepts that would apply to people’s daily lives. She cared deeply about those who looked to her for guidance, and would eventually become a licensed minister herself. In 1997, Donna and Bob purchased a home in Randolph, New Hampshire which she loved. They would eventually retire there. She loved the views of the mountains, the foliage, the snow, and watching the birds from her window! But even bigger joys came with the birth of her three grandsons, Ryan, Braden, and Gavin. Donna loved visiting with her family, and also traveling. Some of her more memorable travels included an Alaskan cruise with her husband, and a trip to Canada where she got the chance to meet and visit with extended family, her Armstrong cousins. And even after her children grew up and the family became further scattered across the country, (and sometimes even the world), Donna continued to care about what went on in their daily lives. She even broke a promise that she would “never do e-mail” in order to stay in better touch with her family. Donna left an indelible presence in the lives of her loved ones, and she will be loved forever by them.

There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Donna's memory to Samaritan's Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes of Berlin & Gorham, NH.

Claire L. Thibeault

Claire Thibeault passed away on November 11, 2025 at the Coos County Nursing Home with family at her side. She was born in Berlin on August 24, 1933 to Isidore and Imelda (Boucher) Tremblay and was a lifelong resident, graduating from Notre Dame High School.

She was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest was in junior high, and she liked to keep her children close, so she would often have many of the neighborhood kids in the yard. In summer time, she would get up early to fill a small swimming pool for her children and some of the neighborhood kids to enjoy. In winter time she was outside shoveling snow with her children, she enjoyed the outdoors. Her work history included retail, stitching at Granite State, and bank clerk. She also did some volunteer work with the CCD program alongside her niece Cecile Labbe. She liked sweets and would often have a pie, cake, or cookies to share with anyone who visited. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and wreath making. She so enjoyed the holidays when she would decorate the house.

Claire is survived by her daughters Debra Baillargeon and her husband Jim, and Donna Amante and her husband Tom. She has two grandsons Matt Baillargeon and his wife Sarah, and Alex Moore. She has two great grandsons Jack and Neko Baillargeon. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald, her sons Dan and Gary, her grandson Jeremy Baillargeon, and eleven siblings, of which she was the youngest: Marie Jeanne, Joseph, Marie Anna, Florence, Emile, Rosaire, Therese, Ernest, Marie Marguerite, Annette, and Archie, as well as many nieces and nephews

Our Story

Established in 1893 by Arthur W. Walters, the funeral home has served area families continuously since that time. In 1928, Bradford S. Parker became affiliated with A.W. Walters & Co. Mr. Parker purchased the business from Arthur Walters and later formed a partnership with G. Harold Holmes and they moved to the present location at 180 Hillside Avenue in Berlin. Bertrand E. Bryant of Colebrook, NH purchased the business in 1966. Bert, along with his wife Beverly operated the business for many years following. (Photo: Bev & Bert July 2015) In 1978, the Gorham location was constructed at 1 Promenade Street. Bert's son B. Edward Bryant became affiliated with the funeral home in 1981. In 1995, Ed and his wife Laurie became the owners of the business, with it remaining as a local family owned and operated funeral home. In 2015, the Bryant's opened an on-site crematorium at their Berlin funeral home to further serve families. As more families are turning to cremation as a means of disposition, the Bryant's decided to open an onsite crematory. By doing so, families know that their loved one never leaves our care. From the first call to the conclusion of services, we oversee the process every step of the way, ensuring the utmost level of care that has been entrusted to us. In 2016, Ed and Laurie were joined by their son David following his graduation from FINE Mortuary College, representing the third generation of Bryant family funeral directors. As a funeral home that has held the community’s trust for many years, our staff is here to serve the families of Berlin, Gorham and the surrounding communities with the utmost care and compassion along with the finest of service.
