We are aiming to have the results tabulated in August. The information provided will help the Council on Aging put together programs, trips and events that the Berlin Seniors are asking for.

Council on Aging Van Driver

The Town of Berlin seeks qualified candidates for the position of Council on Aging (COA) Van Driver. This is a non-benefited, non-exempt part-time position up to 19 hours per week starting immediately at a pay rate of $18.57/hour. Hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. A full job description is available at the Town of Berlin website under employment opportunities. Heat wave coming 7/5/2025-7/11/2025

During a heat wave, prioritize staying cool and hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses. Reduce physical activity, especially during the hottest part of the day, and seek air-conditioned spaces. Drink plenty of fluids, even if you don't feel thirsty, and wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
Staying Cool:
Seek air conditioning: Spend time in air-conditioned places like libraries, malls, or cooling centers.
Limit sun exposure: Avoid being outdoors during peak sun hours (usually 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
Dress appropriately: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing to reflect heat.
Take cool showers or baths: This can help lower your body temperature.
Use fans: Fans can help circulate air, but avoid directing them directly at yourself if the room temperature is very high, as this can lead to dehydration according to the National Weather Service.

Please check on neighbors and friends especially seniors.
