Every person that practices yoga should read or have read, The Bhagavad Gita. The Gita is considered the most influential text ever written and is one of the greatest spiritual classics of the world. The story of the Gita is a concise guide to navigating the “war within” and achieving mental and spiritual peace. It is a book written for human beings, and at its core teachings’ it is the way to human liberation, hence the “war within”.

A couple great personalities that have said The Gita has strongly influenced them are: Henry David Thoreau, J. Robert Oppenheimer, T.S. Eliot, Annie Besant, Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Since the practices of yoga were design to lessen human suffering, provide structure to understand the human mind, and to aid in keeping the body healthy through the physical practice, the teachings of The Gita are essential to the human essence.

If you have not read The Bhagvad Gita and are interested in learning more about it, this is a great oppourtunity to jump in. The Gita is a book you never put away as it acts as a reference for all and every situation and stage of human existence. If you have read the Gita and did not “get” anything out of it or not understand it. Most people need some knowledge of yoga philosophy and symbolism (almost everything in the Gita is symbolism), like the blind king, Dhritarashtra is blind (blind mind) because he loves his sons, when you love someone/something so much you are unable to see their wrongdoings. The teaching is is attachment, attachment drives you to do things you might not do if you were unattached. With that being said The Bhagavad Gita is for every human being to read and reference. It is meant to liberate your mind in everyday circumstances. That is why it still holds up today. It is very relevant. So you do not need to be a yogi to take this class, you just need to be a human being with an open mind.

Self-Study | Self-Realizations

Svadhyaya is the fourth Niyama and translates to “self-study”. There are 5 Niyama’s all together and they are part of the 8 Limbs of Yoga, which are generally referred too as, observances. It involves examining one’s actions, thoughts, and emotions with detachment in order to understand your self. Fostering self-awareness, and personal growth.

Svadhyaya is a, conscious, and non-critical, approach to looking at oneself, aiming to turn attention inward to understand the deeper nature of being.

Even though, svadhyaya is self-study, an inward turning. It helps so very much to talk about the process, your findings, uncertainty around self-discovery. It also helps to have a guide that has been on the svadhyaya path for over 20 years, Gwyn to bounce thoughts off of, ask questions, and assist in giving personal tasks, journal prompts, issues with meditation and great resources to continue your path of svadhyaya after the month of direction comes to an end.

For the month of March Gwyn will be holding an online, hour long practice every Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting at 6:30am-7:30am. These will be held live through Zoom. You can hop on the stream at any time within the hour, but it is always more beneficial to be on when we start. This will be only a month, being able to dedicate yourself to a month of self-study just might lead you to greater life discovery. Remember you are the source of everything. If you didn’t exist nothing would, granting yourself the gift of knowing who you are, just translate to a more fulfilled life.

Sometimes you don’t know your purpose until you sit in a circle with fearless people.

When women gather in circle and share stories, a fire is lit. And the scorched space within that circle becomes fertile soil for possibility, imagination, and compassion. When women connect through their stories, Earth listens, dreams, and takes them into her womb and asks, “Can you feel the embryonic kicks of a new world?” And more often than not, these women leave reborn from stories of pain.

Join us for deep connection in The Koi’s beautiful sanctuary space. Where we as women; talk, tell stories, have meaningful discussions about all things women and anything else that is on anyone’s mind. One woman is such a powerful Being, imagine the energy of an intentional group gathered?! If you are not feeling your power, then let the group help remind you of your strength, grace and resilience. We are all here for each other. Let’s be the support for one another and grow out of that support. All women welcome!

Journal Prompts | Vipassana | Yoga

This 3 week practice is designed to transform you. It won’t magically change you, you will have to do the work. It is designed to help start you on your journey of self-reflection, leading to self-realizations. The idea is to open your awareness around yourself in order to understand how you operate. You cannot work with what you don’t know about, around yourself. This practice’s purpose is to ask specific question, prompt inquiries around the self to get you inspired and excited to discovery what you are all about. Allowing you to see what you have not been able to see within yourself so that you can make the shifts, shedding and changes you would like to see in yourself. Notice there is a lot of “self” involved in this experience. The reason why, is when you do the self-work yourself, it sticks! Putting in the work, creating mind awareness over time solidifies and changes the mind matter. That is where newness occurs within the mapping of the neuroplasticity of the brain. The result, is a trained mind you created.

Signing up for this amazing experience is not to say there is anything wrong with your brain. It is asking you if you would like to understand yourself better? Would you like to train your brain to be less reactive? Would you like to witness more truth rather than witnessing everything through the perspective of your false self? Would you like to learn your patterns?

Studies have show that when you understand how you function, then you have a greater control in your life and how it is conducted. Yoga was created to lessen human suffering. It is a highly intelligent practice, that was designed for every human being. Because in essence, every human is after the same thing in life; to live a full life, well enjoyed, feeling fulfilled with the least amount of personal suffering.

The Koi received another award🌟🏆🌟!!!! Based on our incredible reviews! We are one of the top 5 yoga studios in Camden County!!!!

Whenever a new individual comes into the studio to take a class I always have a little conversation to welcome the person or persons and ask about their experiences with yoga, if they have any issues or injuries, etc. Then I usually say, “don’t worry about if you are doing the postures right or wrong, because there is no right or wrong in yoga. Just listen to your body and never force anything, and if you have any questions afterwards don’t hesitate to ask the instructor, all our instructions are so kind and are here for you.”

And the usual response back is, “yeah! that is actually why we came here, the studio has great reviews and says the instructors are so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.”

That fills me with so much joy! Everyone deserves intentional attention! Yoga is the human practice. Let’s be human together whatever that looks like, and always with compassion.
