February 1st was more than just the beginning of a new chapter for Reeves Memorial Medical Center—it was a day rich with history and purpose.
This date was chosen intentionally, because February 1st is also the anniversary of the opening of Tri-Ward General Hospital in 1970. The vision for healthcare in our community, however, began long before that.
Even prior to 1970, Bernice was home to dedicated physicians who cared deeply for the people they served. In 1950, Dr. C.C. Colvin and Dr. W.C. Reeves turned that commitment into action by opening the Bernice Clinic and Hospital. Their dream was to provide quality healthcare close to home.
As the community grew, so did the need for expanded services. In 1967, plans began for a new, larger facility to meet those needs. That journey led to the opening of Tri-Ward General Hospital on February 1, 1970—marking a major milestone in local healthcare.
Today, more than 50 years later, we honor that legacy as we open the doors to our brand-new Reeves Memorial Medical Center. The same spirit, dedication, and vision that guided those early physicians continues to guide us forward.
We are proud to carry on their mission and excited for what the future holds for our hospital and our community.
