🗳️ Why Louisiana’s Closed Primary Raises Real Concerns for Voters

🗳️ Louisiana now uses closed party primaries for:
• 🏛️ U.S. House
• 🏛️ U.S. Senate
• ⚖️ Louisiana Supreme Court
• 🔌 Public Service Commission
• 🎓 BESE (Board of Elementary and Secondary Education)

🚨 Only Republican and Democratic voters can vote in their party’s primary.

🚫 No party voters must choose a party ballot at the primary — and are locked into that choice for any runoff.

📌 Louisiana’s new closed primary system requires voters to register with a political party BEFORE the primary — even when candidates haven’t been announced yet.

⚠️ That’s a problem.

🏛️ For many U.S. House and U.S. Senate races, the party primary effectively decides the winner. By the time the general election arrives, the outcome is often already set.

❌ If you miss the primary, you may miss your only meaningful chance to influence who represents you.

🤔 When voters are forced to choose a party without knowing the candidates, it:
• 🔒 Locks people into a decision blindly
• 🚫 Excludes independents and undecided voters
• 🎯 Concentrates power in a smaller, more partisan group
• 🕶️ Reduces transparency and accountability

⚖️ This isn’t about attacking any party.
🗣️ It’s about voter access, informed choice, and fairness.

✨ Resilience & Grit Workshop Recap – Claiborne Parish Library ✨

This past weekend, our young men had an unforgettable time learning, laughing, and growing together at the Boyz 2 Men LA Resilience & Grit Workshop.

From the Bounce Back Ball Toss to building towers, obstacle courses, and sharing resilience tips, the boys discovered that setbacks aren’t the end—they’re the beginning of a comeback. 💪🏽

They learned that:
Resilience means bouncing back when life knocks you down.
Grit means keeping your eyes on your goals, even when it’s tough.
A respectable, dependable man is one his family and community can count on—because he doesn’t quit when challenges come.

Through scripture, activities, and group sharing, each young man was reminded: “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” (Proverbs 24:16) 🙌🏽

We are so proud of the energy, honesty, and determination these boys showed. They walked away knowing that every failure is feedback, every obstacle is training, and every setback is a setup for a stronger future.

📣 Together we shouted: “Try, Try Again!” And now they know: “I will try, try, until I reach my goal!”
