It’s easy to feel like we should move past difficult emotions quickly.

Stay busy.
Push through.
Don’t sit in it too long.

But emotions don’t work that way.

Avoiding them doesn’t make them go away—it often just keeps us feeling stuck.

Moving through them, even slowly, is what allows them to shift.

And sometimes, that process can feel hard to navigate on your own.

Having support can make it easier to understand what you’re feeling—and find your way through it.

If this sounds familiar to you, you can reach out to our office at 269-471-5968.
We’re here to walk with you through it. 🩵

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re not sure who the right fit is or if you've never been to therapy before.

You might be wondering:
• Will they understand me?
• Will I feel comfortable opening up?
• What if it’s not a good match?

These are completely valid questions.

The connection you have with your therapist matters—and finding someone who feels like a good fit can make all the difference.

That’s why we make it easy to get to know our team before you even step into a session.

You can learn more about each of our clinicians and find someone who feels right for you by following the link in this post.

We meet you where you are—and walk with you from there. 🩵

It’s easy to look back on a certain moment and feel like you “overreacted.”

Maybe your reaction felt bigger than it should have.
Maybe it didn’t match the situation.

But reactions don’t just come out of nowhere.

Your mind and body learn over time what feels safest—whether that’s getting defensive, shutting down, or becoming overwhelmed.

That doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.
It means your system is trying to protect you the best way it knows how.

And with awareness, those patterns can begin to shift.
If this resonates with you, you don’t have to figure it out alone—we’re here to help. 🩵

It’s easy to fall into the habit of handling everything on your own — especially if speaking up hasn’t always felt safe or productive.

But you really don’t have to carry everything by yourself. It's true!

Therapy can offer a comfortable space where you’re truly heard and supported as you work through what’s on your mind.

If you’re at a point where you just need to talk to someone, Hinman Counseling Services is here to listen.

Delicious cookies aren't the only thing the Girl Scouts of the USA are known for.

Since being founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, the organization has helped generations of girls build confidence, leadership skills, and independence.

Girl Scouts earn badges by learning practical skills, exploring the outdoors, serving their communities, and working together to solve problems. Many girls also run their own cookie sales—learning goal setting, money management, communication, and teamwork along the way.

Experiences like these help young people grow into capable leaders who believe in their voice and their ability to make a difference.

This Women's History Month, we celebrate organizations that empower the next generation to lead with confidence.

Boundaries are often misunderstood.

Setting a boundary doesn’t mean you care less about someone. It means you’re being honest about what you need in order to stay healthy, balanced, and present in your relationships.

Healthy boundaries might look like:

• saying “I need some time to think about that.”
• letting someone know when something doesn’t feel okay to you
• choosing not to take on more than you realistically can
• asking for time, space, or support when you need it

Clear boundaries help create relationships built on mutual respect and better communication.

Sometimes emotional labor shows up in quiet ways.

It might look like being the one who smooths over disagreements, makes sure everyone has what they need to feel comfortable, or takes responsibility for how the entire atmosphere unfolds.

Caring about others is meaningful. But when one person is always carrying that role, it can become overwhelming.

Healthy relationships allow space for everyone’s feelings — including your own.
