Online Mindfulness Therapy for PTSD

This online therapy service teaches you how to work with traumatic memories using the techniques of Mindfulness Therapy.

Healing and recovery depend on you being able to cultivate a mindful relationship with your emotional trauma that is able to be totally present with your emotions but without becoming consumed by reactivity. This is what you will learn to do during Mindfulness Therapy sessions.

One extremely important factor that determines the intensity of emotional trauma and traumatic memories is emotional imagery. Put simply, traumatic imagery is usually too big in size, too close and too intense in color.

What we are saying here is that those properties are what actually create the emotional pain that we experience, much more than the actual events that happened to us.

Based on this principle, we can approach recovery in a very different way. We focus on helping to change the traumatic memory imagery directly rather than trying to change the narrative or beliefs about the trauma.

The way to uncover this traumatic imagery is through Mindfulness Meditation, where we deliberately meditate on the traumatic memories as the primary object of our meditation.

The more we uncover, the more we can change through mindful investigation of what changes to the imagery actually help recovery.

If the traumatic image is very large in size, which is almost certainly going to be the case, then we can experiment making the image smaller. Investigate what happens if you shrink the memory image to the size of a grain of sand. Chances are, reducing the size of the image will significantly reduce the intensity of the emotion.

The real problem is that the traumatic imagery becomes stuck being too large, too close, too intense in color, etc. But, when we bring mindfulness to see the imagery we also bring choice and wisdom to the trauma and we can literally teach the emotion how to heal itself by helping it become smaller in size.

This builds a new pathway in the brain, a new learning pathway which we call a resolution pathway which is how emotions heal.

Generally, the smaller it is, the less powerful it will be. There is lots more we can do with emotional imagery that helps the anxiety heal and diminish. When we have done this preliminary mindfulness work with the anxiety and we feel more confident, then is the time to do the live challenge.

This strategic approach makes a huge difference, especially when repeated every day until we are free from the anxiety. Then we progress to the next challenge, perhaps walking 2 or 3 blocks away. and so on.

This is a very effective approach and most people see significant improvements after 3-4 online sessions.

It is recommended that you use a video platform because being able to see each other greatly improves the effectiveness of online therapy.

Successful stress management depends on you changing the relationship you have with stressful thoughts, to observe those thoughts but without becoming lost in reactivity and proliferation of those thoughts.

We achieve this by learning how to meditate on the mind, we learn to meditate on those thoughts and the underlying fear that fuels those thoughts.

The more we cultivate mindfulness towards our stress, which is non-reactive, the more the stress subsides. This is why Mindfulness Meditation on stress is the best approach for managing stress. This is the key. Meditation trains the mind to be able to be totally present with stress reactions but without becoming lost in those reactions.
