Home Health Care Specialists of Southern Maine and NH

Home Health Care Specialists of Southern Maine and NH We service Clients in the States of NH, ME, and VT in a Non-Medical Home Health and Skilled capacity. Our processes are a little different than other Agencies.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality in-home care services to individuals in the comfort of their own home. We founded HHCS of Southern ME and NH due to an established relationship with the Veterans Administration. We found that the Veteran population needed to be provided with structure and consistency. We do not have multiple Aides caring for Veterans at all different schedules. We valu

e our Veterans time and comfort and we hire one Aide to care for them so that they are provided with consistency. When needed, we work with our non-profit Organization, NorthEast Veterans Services, Inc to make sure our Veterans also have what they need to be safe and thrive. We work to offset the cost of items that may not be covered by the VA, but that might make a huge difference in a Veterans world. These items could be lift chairs, hospital beds, and even emergency funds for home repair issues. Our priority is to provide a well rounded service to our Veterans that goes above and beyond and provides a level of excellence that they deserve for serving our Country.

To every caregiver and aide showing up with patience, compassion, and a whole lot of heart... thank you. Whether you're caring for a parent, a spouse, or a neighbor, what you do matters more than words can say.

We see you. We appreciate you. And we're honored to stand alongside you every day.

Did you know that Walmart Plus and Amazon Prime offer special discounted memberships for individuals eligible for Medicaid and other government assistance programs?

These memberships include free delivery and shipping, which can make it easier to get groceries, medications, and household essentials brought right to your door—especially helpful during cold winter months or when mobility is a concern.

Our care team is always looking for resources that support the families we serve. Both programs offer free 30-day trials to try them out.

We hope everyone is having a wonderful new year! We would like to share some safety tips for the winter season once again!

- Keep walkways clear of snow and ice: Ensure paths to your home are salted and shoveled regularly. Consider asking others for help with snow removal.
- Layer up before heading outside: Wear warm, loose-fitting layers, including a water-resistant outer layer. Don't forget gloves, a hat, and non-slip boots!
- Stay connected with loved ones: Keep your phone charged and have a list of emergency contacts readily available. Consider setting up daily check-in calls with family or friends.
- Prepare for power outages: Stock up on flashlights, batteries, blankets, and non-perishable foods. Keep essential medications in an easily accessible place.
- Monitor indoor temperature: Keep your home heated to prevent hypothermia. Check that all heating systems are working properly.
- Stay hydrated: Even in cold weather, drinking enough water is crucial. Keep warm beverages like tea readily available.
- Watch for signs of seasonal depression: Maintain social connections and try to get some sunlight each day. Open curtains during daylight hours.
- Prevent falls: Wear shoes with good traction indoors and out. Remove throw rugs and keep floors dry.
- Stock up on necessities: Have enough food, medication, and supplies to last through severe weather. Make a list of delivery services that operate in winter.
- Know the warning signs: Learn to recognize symptoms of hypothermia and frostbite. Don't hesitate to call for help if you feel unwell.

Happy new year to everyone!

While we work hard every day to make a meaningful impact with our staff and the Veterans we serve, we’re equally committed to giving back to our community. We volunteer our time, support Veteran-focused organizations, and contribute to causes that are deeply personal to us.

In fact, our love and respect for Veterans inspired us to start our own nonprofit: Northeast Veteran Services, Inc.
https://www.hhcsofnh.org/northeast-veteran-services-inc.html

As the year comes to a close, we take time to reflect on our giving impact. Each year, we donate close to $20,000 to support our community and causes beyond it.

With just five days left in 2025, we encourage you, if you are able, to consider making a donation to your favorite organization. Every contribution, no matter the size, truly makes a difference.

Companies can say they have the best staff in the world… but do they really?
Because honestly? We do.

We are winning at life because of the incredible services our Aides provide to their Veterans. Some days are not easy—far from it—and yet they show up with grace, compassion, and unwavering dedication. They advocate for their Vets like no one else, and it shows in everything they do.

Outside of our amazing Aides, we have this small but mighty team holding our foundation steady. From our Office Manager, to our two Coverage Managers, to our LPN—this crew pivots like Ross from Friends (yes, that pivot). The days can get wild, but they handle every curveball like absolute champs.

We truly couldn’t do what we do without each and every one of them.

And yes—somehow they manage to do it all while rocking those snazzy jackets that make them look like the absolute legends they are.
