Diaper rash is a common skin condition in babies, often caused by irritation from wet diapers, p**p, sweat, or friction. Signs may include red or irritated skin, peeling, soreness, or fussiness in the diaper area. To help soothe and prevent diaper rash:
🔵 Change diapers frequently
🔵 Gently clean the area with warm water
🔵 Allow the skin to dry fully before putting on a new diaper
🔵 Apply a protective cream with zinc oxide
🔵 Give your baby some diaper-free time when possible
If the rash doesn’t improve after a few days, or you notice blisters, sores, fever, or increased discomfort, contact your pediatrician. Keeping your baby’s skin clean, dry, and protected is the best way to prevent diaper rash.

It’s normal for eyesight to change as we get older. You may notice it’s harder to read up close or that your eyes take longer to adjust to changes in lighting. While many of these changes can be corrected with glasses or better lighting, some vision changes may signal a condition like age-related macular degeneration (AMD)—a leading cause of vision loss in older adults. AMD affects the center of the retina and can make it harder to read, recognize faces, or see clearly straight ahead. Regular eye exams are important, especially after age 55, since early detection can help slow its progression. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle—not smoking, staying active, and eating a balanced diet—can also help support long-term eye health.

Your body is designed to handle short bursts of stress, but when stress becomes chronic, it can affect many parts of your body. Long-term stress can lead to muscle tension, headaches, digestive issues, trouble sleeping, and an increased risk of heart problems. It can also impact breathing, hormone levels, and even reproductive health. The good news is that healthy habits can help reduce the effects of stress. Regular exercise, quality sleep, strong social support, and relaxation techniques can all help your body recover and maintain balance. Taking time to care for your mental health is an important part of caring for your overall health.

Occasional forgetfulness is a normal part of aging. In fact, nearly 4 in 10 adults notice mild memory changes by age 65. These changes, known as cognitive aging, can affect how quickly we process information or recall details, but they are often not a sign of a serious problem. Keeping your brain active can help support cognitive health as you age. Activities like puzzles, reading, learning new skills, staying socially connected, eating a healthy diet, and regular physical activity can all help keep your mind sharp. However, significant memory changes, such as getting lost in familiar places, repeating the same questions, or struggling with everyday tasks, should be discussed with a healthcare provider. Taking care of your brain health today can help support a healthier tomorrow.

Binge eating disorder occurs when someone eats a large amount of food in a short time and feels unable to control what or how much they are eating. When this happens regularly, about once a week for three months, it may be a sign of an eating disorder. It’s the most common eating disorder in the United States and can affect people of all ages, body types, and backgrounds. Many people feel shame or try to hide their symptoms, which can make it harder to seek help. Binge eating disorder can be linked to both physical health concerns, such as weight gain, diabetes, and heart disease, and mental health challenges like anxiety or depression. If you or someone you know may be struggling, know that support and treatment are available. Talking with a healthcare professional is an important first step. 💙

Social and emotional support plays a critical role in a teen’s well-being. Yet recent research shows that only about 58% of U.S. teens say they regularly receive the support they need, even though most parents believe their child is well supported. Teens who lack strong support systems are more likely to experience poor sleep, anxiety, depression, and lower life satisfaction. As adolescents grow and face challenges, from academic pressure to social media and global stressors, having trusted people to talk to can make a powerful difference. Parents, teachers, mentors, and communities all play an important role. Sometimes support isn’t about having the perfect conversation. It’s simply about being present, listening, and letting teens know they’re not alone.

From the moment they’re born, babies are already learning about the world around them. They recognize faces and voices, communicate their needs, and begin building connections that shape their growth and development. Simple moments make a big impact. Talking, singing, reading, cuddling, and playing all help your baby feel secure while supporting healthy brain development. Remember, you are your baby’s first and most important teacher. And don’t forget: showing love, holding your baby often, and spending time together helps build the strong foundation they need to grow and thrive.

If your child has a runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, or a tickly throat that shows up around the same time each year, seasonal allergies may be the cause. Unlike a cold, allergies usually don’t come with a fever and symptoms often last longer. To help manage symptoms, try limiting exposure to pollen by keeping windows closed, bathing after outdoor play, and checking daily pollen counts. Pets can also bring pollen indoors, so wiping them down after being outside can help. If symptoms continue or interfere with daily activities, talk with your pediatrician about treatment options, including medications or allergy testing. With the right plan, seasonal allergies can be managed so kids can get back to enjoying the outdoors.

Waking up with a sore jaw, headaches, or sensitive teeth could be a sign of teeth grinding, also known as bruxism. Many people grind their teeth during sleep without realizing it, often noticed by a partner hearing the grinding at night. Common symptoms include jaw pain, tooth sensitivity, worn or chipped teeth, and headaches that start near the temples. Stress, sleep disorders, alcohol use, and certain medications can all contribute to teeth grinding. If left untreated, bruxism can lead to tooth damage and ongoing jaw discomfort. If you suspect you’re grinding your teeth, talk with your dentist. Treatments like night guards, stress management, and addressing sleep issues can help protect your teeth and relieve symptoms.

When choosing toys for your little one, safety always comes first. Make sure toys follow the manufacturer’s age recommendations and avoid anything with small parts that could pose a choking hazard. Toys should be large, sturdy, and free of sharp edges, long strings, or loose pieces. Battery-operated toys should have secure battery compartments, and hand-me-down or carnival toys should always be checked carefully for safety. At home, regularly inspect toys for loose or broken parts to help keep playtime safe. A good rule of thumb: if a toy can fit inside a toilet paper roll, it may be too small for babies and toddlers. Safe toys help ensure playtime stays fun, engaging, and worry-free!

Arthritis is a leading cause of pain and limited mobility, but small daily habits can make a big difference in managing symptoms. Staying active with low-impact exercises like walking, cycling, or water activities can help reduce stiffness, strengthen muscles around your joints, and improve overall mobility. Gentle stretching, maintaining a healthy weight, and practicing good posture can also help protect your joints.
It’s important to avoid high-impact activities that put extra stress on your joints, overusing pain medications without guidance, or ignoring persistent pain. Managing arthritis often requires a balanced approach that includes movement, rest, and working with your healthcare provider to find the best plan for you.
