As a retired history professor, Mr. Doc is no stranger to communication. When he struggled to find words and effectively communicate with those around him, he retreated from doing things he loved in his community.

Over the last few weeks, Aveanna SLP Mallory has helped Mr. Doc rediscover his voice with her gentle demeanor and encouragement. Her listening skills, patience, and therapy tactics have made a profound difference in Mr. Doc's communication abilities and confidence.

“We have only had a couple of weeks of speech therapy, but I can already see changes in Doc," said his wife. "He had gotten to where he would just answer yes or no instead of trying to really communicate the way I need him to. Receiving speech therapy from Aveanna and SLP Mallory has been wonderful! We are very thankful for this service to be provided right in our own home."

Now, Mr. Doc is back to visiting friends at the local nutrition center, one of his favorite weekly activities. This Speech-Language-Hearing Month, we celebrate therapists like Mallory and all they do to help our patients live their most fulfilled, confident lives. Thank you for all you do!

Aveanna nurse Morgan is known for her empathy and genuine connection with her patients and team alike. Now, she is using those gifts to change lives abroad!

Using the same compassion and commitment to patient care she exemplifies at Aveanna, she made the decision to serve communities in need—all while continuing to care for her Aveanna patients in between her travels. We are thrilled to see her sharing her gifts with others around the globe.

Today is World Lupus Day!

Lupus is a complex autoimmune disease that touches every person differently. For many, it means living with daily challenges like chronic pain, overwhelming fatigue, and symptoms that aren’t always visible to others.

An estimated 1.5 million people in the U.S. are living with lupus, showing incredible strength as they navigate the unknowns of this condition. While there is no cure yet, ongoing research and treatment options continue to bring hope and help individuals manage their symptoms.

To hear Mrs. Martha talk about her Aveanna Home Health nurse, Casey, is to understand the true power of nurses.

Casey has been a partner in care throughout Martha's cancer journey. While Casey assesses Mrs. Martha's response to her treatments and helps her with medication management, she also brings comfort during the unknowns of Mrs. Martha's battle.

“No matter how bad I feel, when I see Casey, I just feel better," said Mrs. Martha. "She’s so uplifting and a ray of sunshine. With Casey's care, we know we are not just a name on a book—when she’s here her time is my time, and she never rushes out the door. She has made this cancer thing not so scary."

We are honored to recognize clinicians like Casey and their devotion to their patients' care journeys, no matter what they look like. Thank you for being part of our team!
