Collage? You mean COOL-lage!

We started a new program called 'Scrapbooking' that happens on Tuesdays this month starting at 3 and going until dinner time! Residents found a new creative outlet to express themselves. We used old magazines, outdated calenders, and all sorts of scrapbooking materials to make our very first pages. Once a resident has several pages, we can bind them together for safekeeping their collection.

Some residents were first timers, while others have experience with this type of art. Have you ever made a collage or scrapbook?

Sew good to be outside with friends!

Our memory care residents enjoyed crafting with felt and yarn this afternoon on the patio. Fresh air, friends, and fun make for a fantastic time! Besides conversations about their past experiences with sewing, knitting and the like, the residents listened to and sang along with the music being played.

🎶How sweet it is to be loved by you🎶

Our memory care residents dished out some real fun the other morning! Kristen lead the group in baking some cookies from scratch. Residents talked about how they used to bake different things as they helped measure & mix ingredients. After baking, the group enjoyed music, conversation, and sharing the rest of their treats with the other residents.

Activities are always subject to change! We have a resident who is very passionate about botany, having been involved with plants for most of his nearly 100 years on this Earth (he even wanted to start a greenhouse business in his 90s!). His big family encouraged him to do a presentation for his fellow residents and with our support in activities, we made this a reality!

"Plants with Dan" taught us how to propagate a geranium and a purple heart plant. Residents learned a lot through his presentation and enjoyed asking questions to learn more. Everyone who attended received clippings. Feeling inspired, we are offering a part 2 where he will show us how to transplant into pots.

You can always learn something from every person you meet. We appreciate Dan and his family for this idea. Stay tuned in to see what other activities our residents love!

Ronita’s connection to Paramount began in her childhood while visiting Piney Mountain, but it truly blossomed when she worked as a nurse case manager at Chambersburg Hospital, referring patients to us for rehabilitation and long-term care. Ronita shares that Paramount has played a pivotal role in her professional development, fostering an environment where she could set ambitious goals with unwavering support to achieve them.

When asked what she loves most about her role, Ronita said, "I cherish being one of the first connections to our facility. I get to showcase the warm, caring, and professional departments that help assist our residents and their families during what can be a stressful time." Her transition from a hospital-focused nursing career to long-term care has been seamless, thanks to the guidance and mentorship of our incredible team.

Ronita is particularly proud of her efforts in redesigning the admissions process to create a welcoming, resident-centered experience that informs all departments—a true testament to her collaborative spirit. She describes Paramount in three words: collaborative, innovative, and friendly.

To our new hires, Ronita offers sage advice: “Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Actively listen and seek out information. The culture of opportunity for growth, teamwork, and positivity here is remarkable!”
