Grenada is known as the “Spice Island” for being a leading producer of spices globally. Nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and turmeric are among its biggest producers.

Did you know these spices have oral benefits?

Nutmeg: Antibacterial properties that inhibit the growth of bad bacteria in the mouth that cause gum disease and cavities.

Cloves: Contain eugenol, with antiseptic and analgesic properties that help relieve minor tooth and gum pain.

Prevention of disease is always better than treatment of disease! Too late for this tooth, but doesn’t have to be for yours. Sealants can be discussed at your next visit 😀

Just returning home from some time in Nova Scotia. 😊

Fun Fact: All of Canada’s provinces allow dental hygienists to work independently and own their own practice. 👏🏻🇨🇦

The United States is still a state-by-state ruling. Feeling proud to live in Maine, where I am able to practice independent hygiene. Let’s continue pushing preventative care throughout healthcare! Education and maintenance for healthy mouths and bodies will keep disease away. 🙌🏻
