Our Artis Senior Living Potomac residents had a truly memorable and heartwarming trip to the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC—filled with laughter, connection, and meaningful moments.

For individuals living with dementia, experiences like this offer powerful benefits—engaging long-term memories, encouraging social connection, and creating a sense of purpose and belonging. One resident shared that she had not visited the memorial or experienced its beauty since the 1950s, making the moment especially profound. Another reminded us that “good weather and good people truly bring out the best experience,” a sentiment we all felt throughout the day.

Although the fountain was not running, we were delighted to watch cadets practicing their march in preparation for a Memorial Day presentation. We were also warmly greeted by National Guards and veterans visiting the site, adding to the richness of the experience.

Our residents felt energized and engaged—like tourists in their own state—rediscovering history, connection, and joy in the present moment.

At Artis, moments like these bring back cherished memories while creating new ones with newfound friends. 🇺🇸✨

At Artis Potomac, today our community was blooming with connection through a beautiful art appreciation gathering hosted by our resident Queenie alongside her daughter Kim 🎨🌸

Residents had the opportunity to meet new friends and neighbors while sharing conversation, creativity, and laughter together. We were so blessed to be part of this thoughtful gathering hosted by Queenie and her family. To make the afternoon even sweeter, they shared their cherished family recipe for lemon brownies, which delighted everyone’s sweet tooth 🍋💛

At Artis Potomac, we believe in honoring yesterday and celebrating today. Queenie’s love of hosting and bringing people together has always been part of who she is, and moving to Artis has only given her more opportunities to continue sharing that joy with others. Moments like these remind us that memories, passions, and meaningful connections continue to flourish every day.

🌸 Spring Adventures with Artis Explorer Club 🌸

Our Artis Explorer Club set out on a beautiful spring outing to the United States Botanic Garden, joined by our wonderful friends and families. Though the weather gave us a little chill, the vibrant flowers in full bloom made every moment absolutely worth it.

Surrounded by bright blossoms, warm sunshine, and the joyful sound of laughter, it was truly an inspirational experience. There’s something special about witnessing nature come alive—especially when shared with a community that feels like family. 🌷☀️

This trip was especially meaningful for our flower and gardening enthusiasts, who found so much beauty and inspiration in every corner.

At Artis Potomac, we believe in living life to the fullest. If the flowers aren’t blooming in our own backyard, we’ll go out and find where spring is thriving! 🌼✨

🌸🐣 Easter Joy at Artis Senior Living 🐣🌸

Artis Senior Living was filled with laughter, love, and togetherness as we hosted a beautiful Easter Lunch with our residents, families, and friends.

From our cheerful Easter Bunny friend bringing smiles and energy to the photo booth, to a fun-filled Easter egg hunt under perfect outdoor weather, every moment was truly special. The celebration was made even more memorable with a live performance by our favorite Darrin from Ordinary People, filling the room with music and joy.

One of the most inspiring parts of the day was witnessing the connections—families reconnecting, residents engaging with purpose, and everyone sharing in the simple joy of being present together. These moments remind us that celebration is not just about events, but about creating meaningful memories and nurturing a sense of belonging.

We proudly closed our gathering by recognizing our Positive Partner of the Month, Sam Murray, whose dedication and teamwork continue to inspire our community every day.
