In two decades of practice as a cardiac electrophysiologist, Dr. Rashkin treated numerous patients with heart disease that had progressed to the point where their quality of life was greatly diminished with little he could do to improve it.

Dr. Rashkin was frustrated by not having the opportunity to diagnose and treat these patients prior to their warning signals and symptoms. He recognized that excess weight in many of his patients was a contributing factor to arrhythmic disease. In cases where his patients achieved successful weight loss, the arrhythmia improved, and in many cases, resolved.
