Bladder Cancer Update with NIH Physicians
At Hope Connections, our educational programs give participants direct access to leading experts in cancer care. Recently, Dr. Chelluri and Dr. Chandran of the National Cancer Institute joined our Bladder Cancer Support Group to share the latest breakthroughs in treatment and research.
Highlights included:
-Innovative intravesical drug-delivery systems for both nonmuscle-invasive and muscle-invasive bladder cancer
-Immune checkpoint inhibitors (Opdivo, Keytruda, Imfinzi) proven to improve survival
-Circulating tumor DNA as a promising biomarker to guide treatment and monitor progress
-TAR-200 (“Inlexzo”), a newly FDA-approved system for controlled chemotherapy delivery
-Combination therapy with Padcev and Keytruda, now a global standard of care for metastatic bladder cancer
We are grateful to Dr. Chelluri and Dr. Chandran for sharing their expertise and creating a dynamic, approachable space for participants to learn and ask questions.
