TAKE ACTION to Protect Patient Access and Physician Reimbursement: The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized the 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS), which includes a damaging “efficiency adjustment” that reduces work RVUs and intra-service time for most non-time-based codes by 2.5 percent. These cuts will further erode physician reimbursement, strain podiatric practices, and ultimately threaten patient access to timely, essential care.

We need YOU to urge your members of Congress to reverse the “efficiency adjustment” in the 2026 MPFS. For maximum impact, personalize your message with how these cuts would affect your practice and patients.

For people living with diabetes, foot health is a cornerstone of independence, mobility, and quality of life.

APMA member Elizabeth Daughtry, DPM, is keeping her patients on their feet, by healing diabetic foot ulcers and preventing amputations. One patient recently shared how Dr. Daughtry’s attentive care, thoughtful guidance, and proactive treatment have had an impact for her.

APMA proudly celebrates Dr. Daughtry and every podiatric physician who is helping patients keep their feet during Diabetes Awareness Month.

For more than 30 years, Ralph Wentz, DPM, has built Wentz Foot & Ankle Specialists on a foundation of compassion, expertise, and community trust. This year, that legacy grew even stronger.

Dr. Wentz is now joined by his daughter, Jennifer Wentz, DPM, a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon who brings advanced training, and new services, and allows the expansion of office hours to meet the growing needs of their patients.

What makes this moment truly special is more than the expansion of care—it’s the continuation of a family commitment to helping people walk with comfort, confidence, and dignity.

From one generation to the next, the Wentz family continues to embody the dedication and excellence that define the podiatric profession. APMA celebrates their shared journey and the meaningful impact they make every day!

Today, on World Diabetes Day, we honor every individual living with diabetes and those who support them.

Managing diabetes takes strength, consistency, and courage. Behind each person is often a circle of caregivers, family members, and health professionals who show up every single day with love, patience, and determination. You are seen, valued, and appreciated.

We’d like to give a special shout out to our podiatric medical students from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, Des Moines University - College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Podiatric Medicine, proudly wearing blue in recognition of World Diabetes Day. Their support represents something bigger than awareness; it symbolizes the commitment of the next generation of podiatric physicians who will soon be on the frontlines of diabetes care. These future DPMs will play a critical role in prevention of complications, education, and limb preservation, helping patients live healthier, safer lives.

APMA Trustee David Alper, DPM, visited the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) to lead a hands-on strapping workshop and share insights on the impact of APMA membership.

Dr. Alper’s visit exemplifies APMA’s commitment to supporting the next generation of podiatric physicians—offering education, mentorship, and a strong professional community that begins in the classroom and continues throughout a career. Together, we’re building the future of foot and ankle medicine, one student and one step at a time.
