Having pancreatitis increases your risk for pancreas cancer, but having a genetic mutation that causes pancreatitis greatly increases your risk. These statistics are not something we can settle with. Continue the fight for our future. πŸ’œ

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the deadliest cancers, and the numbers tell a difficult story.

β€’ 13% five-year survival rate
β€’ Most cases diagnosed after the disease has already spread
β€’ Over 52,000 deaths each year in the U.S.

Progress is happening, but it’s not happening fast enough.

We need earlier detection.
More research funding.
More awareness.

Because these numbers shouldn’t be acceptable.

πŸ’œ Together, we push for better.

Camp Hope is in need of a business to donate water bottles for Camp Hope 2026. Camp is in June in Texas and it's hot. Hydration is especially important for medically complex kids, and all the volunteers need hydration as well. If you know anyone, please message us. Please share this post to help us find a sponsor! πŸ’œ

February is National Cancer Prevention Month. City Hall will shine purple in support of this month's awareness campaign.

National Cancer Prevention Month offers people a chance to connect, share experiences and raise awareness about the journey of those affected by cancer. It also highlights the significant milestones and achievements in cancer treatment and helps give each story a courageous face.

We're so excited that pancreas cancer research will continue to receive funding this year. A special spotlight on Birmingham's UAB's own Dr. Rose (pictured in the last photo on the left) for going all the way to Washington, D.C. to advocate and attending our PancreasBowl this year. πŸ’œ

In the coming year, more people than ever before are expected to be diagnosed with . And with a five-year survival rate that continues to hover at 13%, this cancer remains one of the deadliest.

While sobering, this news, published by the American Cancer Society today in their Cancer Facts and Figures 2026 report, serves as a call to action. We’ve made tremendous strides β€” although still too low, five-year survival has tripled since PanCAN’s founding β€” and right now, the momentum is with us to change the trajectory of this disease. πŸ’œ

Here are some key takeaways from today’s report:

1️⃣3️⃣ The five-year relative survival rate for pancreatic cancer remains at 13%. It’s important to note that each patient is unique β€” statistics look at population-wide trends, while individual patients’ outcomes depend on many factors.

6️⃣7️⃣ An estimated 67,530 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2026, which continues a years-long trend of increasing incidence. And approximately 52,740 Americans are expected to die from the disease this year.

3️⃣ Although pancreatic cancer is currently the 11th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S., it is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths, after lung and colorectal. And it is predicted to become the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths before 2030.
